Deck Description

Hey guys.
This is my 1st EDH build. I relly like Surrak, and wanted to make this deck. But I rarely play multi-player games. So I don't know if this deck "fits" on a good Multiplayer deck.
I based it on decks I see on Salvations forum and the "Commander Versus Series" from Star City Games youtube channel.
Is it good?
Help me make this deck better!
Thanks

Deck discussion for 1st EDH Deck "HELP!"

well i have to ask what issues do u have playing the deck? does it move too slow? honestly it doesnt look bad. I like surrak too and have been working on a different route than the one you have here. i was going to go straight up stompy with the deck. fill it with some of the not only biggest but useful creatures i could find. the bomb i had planned on using is Createrhoof. that thing is just evil when used right. personally i dont think primal surge is a good card here. in a sliver deck hell yes this idk not so much. maybe look into either warstorm surge of even Omniscience. both cards make for some crazy games. another card i would drop is dreamstone hedron. getting 3 mana after spending 6 doesnt seem like a win to me. i enjoy abusing doubling cube. but look up the rules for it before u add it. it is a awesome card that can really supercharge ur mana, but u have to use it right.

Tezzy doesnt seem like a good fit here either. maybe just go simple and find jace belerene. he at least can give you more draw power or u can use wildespeaker to give your forces more power.

Agreed, Garruk Wildspeaker is a must in here.

Hey Demon. Thanks for the ideas!
Createrhoof is rather expensive these days... But I'd definitely use it. :)
Awn, Primal Surge is love man. I tested this deck three times already and it won me a game. 15 permanents of the top (8 being creatures) and with fervor otb. Snap win.
Doubling Cube is interesting. I like the hedron a little, but it (usually) just sit in my hand.... I was thinking about Worn Powerstone (specially since its cheap)...
Yea, i put the Wildspeaker instead of tezz.
Thank you again.

Congratulations on entering the wonderful world of Commander! Your deck is very playable as it is, but some choices seem to have been made from a duel perspective and you mentioned this is for multiplayer, so my suggestions are aimed in that direction.
Your Mana base is generally good and the comments I have are based on my personal preferences:
- Rupture Spire doesn’t seem to have any real added value here; I would favor Mirrodin’s Core.
- Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse seem to dilute you land pool more than anything else. Vivid Creak is also a weak mana fixer in my opinion. I would replace these with the Filter lands, provided you have/can afford those (Cascade Bluffs, Fire-Lit Thicket and Flooded Grove) or even with basic lands, which at least won’t come into play tapped.
- Finally, you should run roughly the same amount of each basic land type, given that your deck is fairly balanced when it comes to Mana Symbol occurrence.

You are a bit heavy on the mana-producing artifacts, along with Tezzeret; I don’t see why you are going in this direction. I would lose Chromatic Lantern, Darksteel Ingot and Dreamstone Hedron to make room for artifact that actually make a difference, like Deathrender, Sword of Fire and Ice, Sword of Body and Mind, or more creatures and spells.

Creatures:
I am not a fan of:
- Ætherling
- Artisan of Kozilek
- Brutalizer Exarch
- Farhaven Elf
- Ghor-Clan Rampager
- Molten Primordial
- Phyrexian Ingester
- Rattleclaw Mystic
- Wood Elves
I would like to see:
- Ixidron
- Edric, Spymaster of Trest
- Anger
- Dominus of Fealty
- Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger
- Yavimaya Elder
- Elvish Piper
- Genesis
- Magmatic Force

A few improvements for spells:
- Replace Fervor with Fires of the Yavimaya
- Replace Primal Surge with Genesis Wave
- Replace Unexpected Results with Lurking Predators
- Replace Treachery with Bribery; it won’t untap lands, but you always get an awesome creature from it.
- Replace Destructive Revelry with Hull Breach, more versatile and powerful.
- Replace Search for Tomorrow with Sylvan Library and Kodama’s reach with Abundance; when both are in play you draw all 3 cards each turn.
- You have no board wipe; replace Urban evolution with All Is Dust

I hope this is helpful!

Hello Mazelord. Thanks for your ideas!
I don't have much of a wallet to keep buying some kind of cards (and I don't live in the US), so mostly here I can't change, so:
- I agree with Mirrodin's Core. Actually didn't even knew that card existed. lol
- I really need those slow fetches in this deck. As you can see, the mana base is not that perfect. (and filter lands are [at least here] more expensive than some fetches. oO
- Since I'm running three fetches, the basics here aren't that unbalanced. (the maximum of red symbols in a card is two) and islands and forests are "virtually" balanced. :X
- I don't like Deathrender much... but i might try it sometime. And the swords are "not so" budget, you know.
- All of those you don't like but Ætherling and Ghor-Clan Rampager proved to be very good cards actually. Now that I'm reading a lot of stuff about commander, I noticed that a card, like Artisan of Kozilek is sometimes a must in this types of decks.
- Phyrexian Ingester is a 'cheaper' Duplicant for me (since my local store is out of them :/ )
- the Farhaven and Wood elves are nice cheap "mana ramp" and their bodies are actually very important (I faced a black deck with some of "target player sacrifices..." and i could simply sacrifice the elves (same for Rattleclaw Mystic, although is indeed not 'that' good of a card)
- I really like Brutalizer Exarch. And Molten Primordial was other blow-out in the 1st win. It was one of the creatures exiled with Primal surge. (I'm now in love with that card btw. lol )
For your suggestions for creatures:
- Ixidron looks pretty dangerous. Kinda bad too if I have some good creatures in play.
- I don't know about Edric, Spymaster of Trest... Its definitely an awesome card. But my creatures are huge and it feels to me that i'll give more power to my opponents than to myself...
- Anger, not a great option now that i look closer. (I only run 5 mountains)
- Dominus of Fealty is rather interesting. I might try it (and its not expensive! :) )
- I love Vorinclex, but as I said. VERY expensive. :(
- Yavimaya Elder is a great card. I might switch it with the temur Mystic...
- Elvish Piper is interesting too. I don't have much experience with multiplayer games but i looks very fragile...
- Genesis is nice! ... and expensive.
- I really don't like Magmatic Force. I'm sorry. I just prefer the old Inferno Titan. :D
For your suggestions of spells:
- Already replaced fervor with Fires of Yavimaya. Thanks!
- No genesis in this deck sir. Primal Surge is love. lmao
- Lurking Predators looks as fun as the Results. I might try it (too) :D
- Man, I really, really love Treachery. It isn't as "broken" as the bribery but certainly as good! (i always pick it in cube xD)
- I'll try both revelry and breach, since instant speed can be a Huge thing.
- All is dust is ugh. I just can't . xD (I rather not play total board wipes in this deck...)

Thank you so much for you suggestions! I really appreciate it. :D

I am happy if some of my comments were helpful; I sometimes lose track of how much Commander Staples have gone up in price since the format started, so I apologize if some of my input was not budget-friendly.

The important thing in Commander is that your deck resembles you and that you are enjoying it, so I encorage you to keep whatever you like in there.

Cheers!
