I'd drop Render Silent and Essence Scatter for more Dissolve. Actually my counter set up would be 4x Dissolve and 1x Sycnopate. Render Silent is a good counter but the second part of the spell isn't much of a crippler unless you're playing against a combo deck like Unexpected Results or something. I don't run Mutavault in my control decks. You want your lands to be colored and Mutavault can slow you down sometimes. I don't even run Mana Confluence because my land set up is already fairly decent. I love Merciless Eviction but they kinda had it out shined by Fated Retribution. One mana extra but it's instant speed and can take out planeswalkers that might be annoying you. FOUR Detention Sphere man, lol. That card is just too awesome. I like Dimir Charm in here. Idk if you need 3 but it's kinda just taking the place of Last Breath. Also dude, maindeck at least 2 Thoughtseize.

I don't use much Dissolve in the main, cuz I run 10 Scry-lands & many times, I keep my top card when laying a land & then use Dissolve... ...Render Silent is also amazing against Mono-Black Devotion, Gruul Devotion, Pretty good against Mono-Red Devotion-aggro & Mono-Blue Devotion-aggro... ...I need Mutavault for Elspeth & it saved me the game many times with my previous Esper control deck... ...sometimes, you loose all your tokens just be4 you could activate Elspeth, or a turn be4 that... ...but sometimes, even 1 Mutavault can end the game in 2-3 turns after Elspeth got ultimated... ...2 Mutavault can end it easily(8 damage/turn) - I ren 4 Mutavault in my previous setup... ...+ many players do use 3-4 Slaughter Games in the sideboard, even though it's no longer a popular card, that's why Mutavault is a saver... ...couple of times, I've won the match without AEtherling, Elspeth or Vizkopa & Jace haven't got ultimated either.......

I have 15 lands that could produce blue mana, 15 white & 14 black, so I can afford the 3 Mutavault here... ...23 of my lands can produce color + I have 10 Scry-lands that can adjust the order of draw when it's not proper...

I've never played ThoughtSeize mainboard in Esper control ever... ...I rather use board-control in the main & only use ThoughtSeize when needed(it's not so good in "total"-control decks in many-many situations)... ...& if I use it, I use at least 3, cuz 2 is pointless... ...4 is always too much for the main deck though... ...as for Detention Sphere... ...statistically, it's almost the same if I used 3 or 4... ...I use 3, cuz 22.5% of the time, it's only a delay(temporal removal) & I don't want too much of that mainboard, but.... ....but... ...multiple Detention Spheres can back up each other, that's why most control players use 4 in the main deck... ...I rather chose to run 3 & 1 in the sideboard, so I can use 4 Downfall & 3 Dimir Charm... ...Downfall is the best possible permanent(not temporal) removal for this deck & Dimir charm can kill a little creature, or counter Rakdos's Return, Thoughtseize, Duress, Revoke Existance(to save Detention Sphere), Dreadbore(to save Elspeth or Jace), Glare of Heresy(to save Elspeth), etc. ... ...& it can also mass up the draw-order for the opponent + eleminate potential threats for the fallowing 1-3 turns in the process... ...& it can also adjust your order of draw(when the Scry-lands won't come), or give you the card you need to win in time at late/mid-game.......

Your set of counter spells are sympathic & it showes that you've been watching Brian Braun-Duin's builds :)

I have the same set in one of my latest decks... ...actually right below this one... ...it's not control, but rather "Simic-FlashMonsters"....... ;) I give you a link anyway: http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/garruk-broodmaster-of-kruphix/

Yea that's a lot to read so I'll just say we have different play styles. Also I don't know who Brian Braun-Duin is.

He usually uses 4 Dissolve & 1 Syncopate mainboard in Bant Flash, USA control & stuff... ...Brian Braun-Duin is from Star City-Games & he's one of the most creative professionals there is in my opinion, along with Todd Anderson(also Star City-Games... :)
