Deck discussion for The Ultimate Eviction

Have you thought about adding Dismiss into Dream to this deck? I know it's a little steep on the mana cost but it makes all those return cards so much more mean and gives the deck a little more depth of play.

Each creature your opponents control is an Illusion in addition to its other types and has "When this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it."

That is just mean... I think so anyway. Not to mention it will get past all those creatures that are indestructible.

Nice thought!

Dismiss into dream really is high on mana cost & can easily be destroyed, or countered... ...there are other methods for dealing with indestructible creatures & such that are cheaper & more relyable... ...that's why I have Merciless Eviction, Angel of Serenity, Detention Sphere in the sideboard & some counters... ...not to say, if I return a creature to it's owner's hand, than after that I can counter it, if I missed it the 1st time it's been cast... ...There aren't many creatures now that could not be delt with by a simple removal, so making all those creatures illusions won't make sense... ...I could oppose 1-3 indestructible creatures within a match, so the special removal I have for those are more than enough... ...the gods are no longer creatures when I cast Verdict & destroy all other creatures anywayes & by a Far // Away(Away), I can deal with a god after I cast Verdict... ...tough I need to look out for Boros Charm & Rootborn Defences, even Ready // Willing(Ready), but I have the Angel, Eviction, Sphere, Away & Cyclonic Rift for those, as well as counters.......

Thanks for your suggestion! The thing I dislike about Dismiss into Dream is that it can not set up creatures with Hexproof, 'cuz the text doesn't say, that those creatures would lose all abilities... ...so it's better to use Merciless Eviction & Cyclonic Rift, plus Away for those, as well as Hexproof creatures without Indestructible can be delt with by Verdict...

If you have any other idea how to make this complete, I'd like to hear it!.. :)

That was the issue and the reason I didn't throw Dismiss into my Red Blue burn mill. Other then Dismiss... the best thing I can come up with is the non-standard Prison Term. It's ability once it's on the field doesn't target, it simply attaches to a creature... at least that's how I've seen it played. Another non-standard which would prevent a lot of problems is Curse of Exhaustion.

I don't normally lean to hard into standard play so I haven't really looked to closely at the newer cards that I don't own.

I see... ...well, my favorite format is standard, because it forces players to make well-versed & balanced decks with fewer cards avaleable... ...it's harder to be creative when your arsenal is limited, so it's much of a challange as I see it & I enjoy it very much... :)

About 97% of my decks up here is standard... ...I rarely put up a deck I've made only for fun & casual play... ...besides, I don't like legacy, sice it' usually a 1-4 turn game... ...I like modern & extended, but standard format is the real thing.......

I was out of MTG competetion for 4.5 months, so last month, I had to educate myselfe about what've changed since rotation... :)

Changed the deck a little... ...I've had 3 Downfall mainboard & 3 Sphere sideboard... ...I switched 1-1... ...both a removal, Sphere is only temporary at times, but it can take out anything, even a planeswalker, or a god, may be multiple tokens, or multiple copies of anything... ...Downfall is permanent, it can't take out gods, but it can also deal with planeswalkers & it's instant speed... ...I think this 2-1 balance is just what I need... ...I'll test it now.......

You could always drop a Spear of Heliod or Bident of Thassa.... though Bident is very creature sensitive... Spear of Heliod would let you smack down some of your opponents quicker creatures once they attack or block. There is guy who comments on my decks Soltur, he runs a blue red control burn deck that's standard. Shoot him a message, he should be able to help you a bit better then me.

Hello, PoetMaster-X.

Personally, I've no idea why you're not running a full playset of D-Spheres. If you could explain that to me, that'd be awesome.

I could see you running not one, but FOUR Dissolves. Keep those indestructibles from hitting the field.

I noticed a lot of mana here, but a lot of lower cost mana. I'd suggest cutting out about 6 mana. You have too much mana. Literally almost half your deck is nothing but mana and I do not understand the point of that.

I'd run more Cyclonic Rifts and drop Jace to only one or two.

I like that you're running Aetherling. That's a good touch. Flicker him out when you play a boardwipe. I'll be back with more comments, but I like the idea of this deck.

Thanks for your comment!

There are cards that complete each other, like Hero's Downfall & Sphere, that's why I'm not running much of each in the main deck... ...Sphere can be delt with & that's a problem when you have a full set... ...after dayes of game-testing, you'll know.......

Running too many 3 mana counters aren't good in any deck, 'cuz in early & mid-game they would prevent you from casting your other spells most of the time...

A lot of mana?.. ...basically, control decks these dayes run 25-27 mana, some run 24... ...cutting 6 mana at least? No deck can fully be stabil with only 20 lands in standard today... ...I don't know, if you have noticed that I run 4 Mutavault here wich are perfect with the amount of mass removal I have(speaking about Verdict & Eviction)...

The 26 land & the amount of card draw is for setting up Serenity & a stabil AEterling that can not be delt with... ...& the 4 Sphinx's Revelation is also awesome this way & after you've played one for 9+ mana, you can cast multiple spells each turn...

Cutting Jaces? Most decks play 3-4 for a reason, 'cuz it sometimes dies early if you draw many cards with it & you can cast the other one & it is also great against aggro(either in the early-game, or after a wipe is played...

I'd play more Rift in a deck that runs more counters, but this is not like that... ...if I draw Rift early, I probably cast it in turn 3-4, if I had no Verdict, but basically it's for a late-game board-clearing(after I've cast 2 or more Revelations, it's almost certain that I get that 1 Rift in the deck & I can sideboard 1 more if needed, tough in a deck with this much card-draw, every card counts 1.5/1, so it's not like I have 1 Rift, I will use it only once/game, but the ability to draw it in time is like if I had 2 of it(& I don't need more than that)...

AEthering is a must in Esper control, tough in some type of decks, I'd rather play 1-2 as sideboards, but here, I need them two mainboard...

Thanks you so much again!.. ...tough I think you should run more playetests & also research in todayes standsard, because you are just like me when I got back to MTG after almost 5 months break... ...I continued playing about 3.5 week ago & I see things so much differently now....... :)
