Deck Description

I'm making this deck for a friend who has not yet really gotten into the whole online deck-making and feed-back getting thing and i would like to have an example deck to show him. He said he was interested in a vampire/zombie deck (after a bit of editing this example became pure vampire, but...) so I thought I would start from there. I myself am rather new to magic so all help on this deck and my others is appreciated.

edit: made adjustments according to the comments. Thanks for the help :)

Deck discussion for Vampire/zombie (please help)

you like lifelink i see, haha well i have a vampire deck that focuses on sacrificing that works really well for me, and people hate sacrificing their own creatures so that just makes it way more fun. so if you want to here are some cards that go with that theme gatekeeper of malakir, consuming vapors and anowon, the ruin sage. (all relativly cheap as well) others that dont go with the sac theme are : bloodghast (works great with marsh flats combo), malakir bloodwitch (protection from white), vampire hexmage (great for planeswalkers and poison counters), pulse tracker (good with bloodchief ascension), guul draz vampire, guul draz assassin, blade of the bloodchief is maybe better than lashwrithe, also most vampire decks are aggro which means low cost 1-2 mana - oh shit the most important card you need is SIGN IN BLOOD hope i helped

I'd drop the Obliterators, Child of NIghts, and Sangromancers and add a playset of Kalastria Highborn, Vampire Lacerators, and Vampire Hexmages. Obliterators are nice but don't fit the vampire theme obviously. Hexmages are better than Child of Night by far, unless you're really going for life gain. I'd also add Blade of the Bloodchief, drop the implants for a pair of those maybe. Chancellor of the Dross is gonna be tough to get out with no mana acceleration and only 20 swamp, but you only have one of him so he'd probably rarely show up anyway.

You're a little heavy on removal. I'd sideboard the set of verdict's and either the set of go for the throats or doom blades, then bring them in when you're up against whatever the removal you left in can't target. In their place add Sign in Blood and maybe Dark Tutelage for even more card draw.

Bloodghast is another good addition, though he's pricey, although not anymore pricey than a playset of obliterators. Other cards to think about are Gatekeeper of Malakir, Bloodthrone Vampire (sac the Bloodghast for fuel for Blade of the Bloodchief then bring him back when you drop a land is a nice little combo to pump a creature up). Stabbing Pain to tap potential defenders and get in a nice hit and Virulent Swipe or Vampire's Bite for when your opponent decides to let a hit through. Disfigure is another nice removal spell, as is Urge to Feed but tapping your vampires to pump them isn't always a great idea.

Otherwise, cool deck, good luck with it, hope your friend enjoys it.

Nice deck dude =)
I'm trying to build a vampire deck myself... And i've found 1 cards that you may find useful...
Blade of the Bloodchief is a nice an cheap equipment for vamps and Feast of Blood is a great removal, not only it kill any creature for 2 mana, but it also gives you 4 life =)
also, have you consider adding dark ritual and some cost 1 vamps, like Pulse Tracker or Guul Draz Vampire? for some turn 1 caos? =p
I'm just beginning to gather some ideas for my vamp deck, but any suggestions would be appreciated =)

I have a vamp deck of my own. First of all, i dont love lacerators, just never liked them much. I would swap those out for another 2 nighthawks. You can never have to many nighthawks. Also, malakir bloodwitch is a good late game creature or game changer. Bloodlord of vaasgoth can also completely change a game. Only problem with those two is they are a little more expensive.

One combo i have found is having out bloodghast, kalastria highborn, and an eldrazi monument. All your vamps are boosted and have flying, you can sac the bloodghast with the monument and just pay the cost for the highborn. Also works great with the marsh flats which i unfortunately dont have
