Deck Description

Donation control EDH using Zedruu the Greathearted. This is one of the most deceptively mean decks I own. If it appears I'm being nice to you, you should be worried.

How to Play

Play mind-games and pull the strings by giving the other players in your game all manner of cards. Memnarch and/or Venser allows the option to take back your donations, which you should do on occasion.

Lich's Mirror is a beautifully evil card that allows you to capitalize on a player who's down on his luck. Give that player the Mirror and you have now brought them back from death, and in doing so, enslaved them.

Deck discussion for Giveth, taketh

Never has there been a truer sentence...

I really like the way you built this deck. Can you take a look at my Zedruu?

Sorry it's taken a couple days for me to get back to you on this, I had to actually try it to understand it. This is almost a tasteful form of evil, and I love that about it, but more than anything this makes me wish you could use Nefarious Lich.

Wonderful design Artemis, but definitely one I'd come to hate if I had to play against it on a regular basis.

A tasteful form of evil. What a wonderful way to put it. I understand your need to try it out to fully understand it. It is, at times, a difficult and complex deck to play. Did you use proxies or some online program? I know Cockatrice was taken down (which is absolute bollox), thus my curiosity. I don't know if I would use Nefarious Lich if given the ability. The power of this deck is it is deceptively malicious, and there is nothing deceptive about Nefarious Lich. It is quite decidedly a bastard card. It does somewhat irk me that Zedruu is not Esper colored. To me, no part of what she does is 'red'.

Online program, I'm going through the process of getting Magic Workstation back up to speed. Cockatrice was indeed a terrible loss, and I will miss that beautifully intuitive system.
Zedruu is all about politics to me, you will control your opponent with only a modicum of consent, and that card would force them to oblige you. Less of a puppeteer, more of the forceful hand of a despot. And I agree entirely, Zedruu should have been Esper, it would have fit so well. Especially with the wistful line of thinking I've taken with Nefarious Lich.

I will say this about this deck having red in it -- It is a boon to have Form of the Dragon, Searing Meditation, and Etherium-Horn Sorcerer available. Though I suppose I would be saying similar praises towards black cards.

Decided to nix the old version of this deck and update appropriately with the changes I've made over time. This is the deck as it exists currently, and I am quite proud of it.

I don't remember if it's ever happened, but some weird stuff can happen if you donate the Top.

Oh and Tamyo's ultimate with Mindslaver. That's a thing.

I have still, to this day, not finished the 20 card sideboard for this particular EDH deck. Any and all suggestions would be most appreciated.
