Deck Description

I've decided to make a serious foray into Legacy, so I decided to go with Merfolk because it looked cool :)

Thanks for the comments on the sb guys! I had forgotten that I haven't updated that in a while. And yes, Stifle is not a good sb card. Much better sb now.

I have, several times. I just can't seem to find a card that I would rather be a nrainstorm. Except for islands, everything in this deck is an amazing top-deck

A lady in our group plays a very similar deck. I was very happy when I saw Mental Misstep getting banned (she ran them in her sb). This is a strong deck, but one of the weaknesses I find are the Æther Vials - if they don't feature, the deck is allot slower.

But who in their right mind doesn't play vials in the deck?

I didn't say she doesn't play them, I'm just saying that if they get removed or (for some odd reason) they don't get drawn, the deck is allot slower.

If I had vials, I'd use them in my elf decks.

Looks nice, pretty similar to what I am running. I ended up taking standstill down to 3 because if I don't have a vial in play then it can be a dead card. It is amazing with vial in play however so I think 3 feels like the right amount.

I personally like Chill better than Blue Elemental Blast personally because it causes a lot more long term disruption. It could just be in my play group though, I haven't played in any tournys. I would also drop Merfolk Sovereign down to 3 or 2 and find room for Kira, Great Glass-Spinner and maybe Sower of Temptation which give the deck a lot more tricks.

Here is my current version if you are interested.

Gosh, I haven't updated this deck in months... Kinda surprised you guys found it.

I honestly don't think Merfolk is that good right now, but here is how I think I would play it if it was.

Standstill just doesnt cut it right now, so im going to move away from the tempo approach to an aggro-control.
