Deck Description

My first flavor deck, based around my favorite tribe: vampires! Read the story and tell me what you think.

The Bloodchief of Malakir has awaken from his slumber and picked up his Blade. The forests and bogs around Malakir are no longer safe for passage, for now they are swarmed by his rogue minions, the Pulse Trackers. To avoid the Pulse Trackers, travelers are forced to slip into the realm of the Bloodchief himself, where they are greeted by his Gatekeepers.

Can you escape from Malakir alive? Stay away from the bogs unless you wanted to become a Disfigured corpse, for they conceal Bloodghasts. Run! Run! Faster! Faster! The Blood Seekers are almost upon you! You hear a cry from up above, and stop. Vampire Nighthawks are here for you, there is nowhere left to run. It is over now, you have failed. You feel the Vampire's Bite and a Stabbing Pain, and then everything goes Black.

Tonight is the night of the Bloodchief's Ascension.

It's very nice, I'd cut out the anowons and just have 4 ascenscion. The day of the ruin sage doesn't really make sense.

Totally agreed man! Plus the screeching Nighthawks! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Might add Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief or Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet so you have some bloodchiefs. Would you mind taking a look at my vampire deck (It's not flavor) http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=121766

Glad you enjoyed it (Who knew m first flavor deck would be a hit?), but unfortunately both your candidates have a major stike against them.... Their names. KALASTRIA? GHET? Neither of these are Malakir unfortunately. If there was a Bloodchief of Malakir, he would be gracing this deck but unfortunately there isn't.

Malakir Bloodwitch is the region's leader. They don't have a BloodCHIEF, they have a BloodWITCH.

Guul Draz has no Bloodchief, they are rebels. (technically Bloodghast is a Guul Draz...)

Why do you say this? He's not a rouge vampire, and he got the facepaint stuff the people of Malakir have too.

Also, I like the idea that "I" (or whoever is playing) is the Bloodchief, like, we ARE supposed to be planeswalkers right?

Guul Draz are rebels of Malakir. If you notice, they all have blood-paint on them. Bloodghasts are convicted Malakirans, when convicted in Malakir, you are killed. That's why they're ghosts.

Others are obviously Guul Draz Vampire, Lacerator, Guul Draz Assassin (again, duh), and I think Bloodthrone...The idea of Bloodchief Ascension is that a Guul Draz is rising to the role of a leader for these rebels.

And yes, technically every player is a 'Walker as well. =]

Nah, y'know what, it all still has to do with Malakir, and your story in the description still works actually. =]

Besides, it's still a good deck =P

Kalastria Highborn + Bloodghast is a sweet combo. I'd suggest trying it out.

*sigh* It really sucks when people don't read the introduction to your decks, but rather assume you know what they are doing.

This is a flavor deck, so Kalastria Highborn has no place in it; the point is to make a deck who's backstory encompasses all the cards, but is also playable in a match. This deck is completely focused on Malakir, so Kalastria cards are not going to be used.

I totally see Butcher of Malakir replacing Stabbing Pain in this Deck:

Can you escape from Malakir alive? Stay away from the bogs unless you wanted to become a Disfigured corpse, for they conceal Bloodghasts. Run! Run! Faster! Faster! The Blood Seekers are almost upon you! You hear a cry from up above, and stop. Vampire Nighthawks are here for you, there is nowhere left to run. It is over now, you have failed. You feel a Vampire's Bite and a the Butcher of Malakir's blade piercing threw your chest, and then everything goes Black.

Flavor-wise, you are dead right. From a playability standpoint.... 20/20/12/4/0/0/0/4 Mana curve does not work
