Krenko's Tactics: Commander

by ShadowsMark on 02 June 2014

Main Deck (99 cards)

Sideboard (1 card)

Creatures (1)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

How to Play

Drop any goblin just to get this rolling. put out krenko and puppet strings so you can tap/untap him twice a turn. Rings allows the abilities to trigger twice. Get bracers on krenko, that trigger doubles again, thousand year elixir allows you to do that again and magewrights to do it again in that turn. do that 5 turns and you see your opponent quit. add a coat of arms to make it interesting.

Deck discussion for Krenko's Tactics: Commander

IMO the two most powerful cards in mono-red are Stranglehold and Blood Moon.

You could also run snow-covered mountains so nobody can leech off your Extraplanar Lens.

If you can pick one up I'd get a Chaos Warp, too. It's really the only way red can deal with problem enchantments.

Someone drops a Lightmine Field or Dueling Grounds or something you'd be willing to replace ANYTHING to have a way to deal with it.

Personally, I would shoot for more Gobbies and less superfluous stuff, like a good chunk of the artifacts. I run 25 vamps in my Olivia deck and it works well for the tribal. Goblin Grenade is a favorite goblin card of mine but it isn't here :/ I like the Krenko's ability abuse you have in place, though, so keep at least those artifacts because that makes it fun. I like what you've got here and what possibilities this deck has to get strong still. Good job, man!

goblin grenade WAS here but i figured with about 7 billion goblins i can pump out with the coat of arms & Door of Destinies i can manage with out it, i put in its place Valkarut. but i have cards here that i can get my goblins out pretty easy and without too much of a problem. thanks for your comment=) but i could use some tips to help it here i might get rid of winter orb for something else.

Valkarut is nasty in here, I can dig it. For creatures, this deck needs Goblin Piledriver and Siege-Gang Commando at least. Also, Voracious Dragon could easily be a win con late game.

I think some wraths are important to have in EDH decks as well, so Blasphemous Act and Chain Reaction are good candidates.

Some card draw would be good as well, since Slate of Ancestry and Faithless Looting are really your only two draw cards right now. Goblin Lore isn't great but if you find yourself without a hand, it could be alright; Knollspine Dragon is a little costly but pays dividends; Wheel of Fortune is great and Wheel of Fate, it's poor-man counterpart is good; Mind's Eye could be good here too.

Finally, if you ask me it's a crime that Braid of Fire isn't currently in this deck. There are all my suggestions, brah. Hope they help.

Could be good. I think one important thing with EDH is not tailoring the deck specifically to your commander. I don't know how many cards you have in here just for your commander, but I've always been in the EDH camp that tailors the deck to just be beneficial as a whole rather than to one card, because commanders don't stick around all the time, you know? But that'd be my advice, if a card really only benefits Krenko rather than the whole deck, it's probably not worth the slot over something more universal.

Chaosphere to deal with flying? Also maybe Barrage of Expendables for if Goblin Bombardment is unavailable? Just suggestions. Good deck overall.

*like*
1 or 2 suggestions from my own Krenko commander deck (http://www.mtgvault.com/muktol/decks/edh-krenko-mob-boss/)
"Thornbite Staff"...in combination with something that let's you sacrifice tokens (e.g. "Skirk Prospector") this leads to an 'endless'-combo.
"Fervor"...An additional haste source for your goblins, as enchantment it's not as easy to remove as a creature.
"Battle Squadron"...strength and power equal to the number of creatures you control AND flying
"Goblin Assassin"...Mass removal on 2 legs. Yeah, you can looses some tokens, but your opponents normally will loose way more valuable creatures than you.
"Moggcatcher"...Lets you search for goblin cards in your deck

I would also think about changing some of the equipment to protection gear (shroud/ hexproof) as Krenko tends to get shot away as fast as possible. Well, who can blame your opponents for that...

Greetings
Muktol

This is kinda late input, and the CMC is a bit high, but could Chancellor of the Forge work? He can give you a goblin right off the bat, and by turn seven you should already have tons of goblins out, so his effect would give you tons of tokens.
I don't know if the game would go on that long, since I haven't played EDH before.
