Deck discussion for Vampires of the newb

Okay. so.. this is the basic but incomplete vamp deck. Plz help me fill the slots, what should I put there?
I'd go for fast kill with removals.
There are two things I'm not sure of.
1. Liliana Vess?
2. Could 1 Nocturunus be helpful?

Vampire Nocturnus is very help full in vampire decks. If you have more put them in. If not Diabolic Tutor will help some with that problem. but it turns a turn 3 drop into a 6 drop.
Gatekeeper of Malakir should be added because its kicker cost is added help.
Replace Doom Blade for -Go for the Throat- just because if you play against a black deck its pretty much dead in your hand.
Malakir Bloodwitch is great in vampire decks.
Sign in Blood for draw power
You have 16 lands use at least 20 and I would say make them sack land because if you flip the top card of your library and its a land Nocturnus doesn't give the bonus. Maybe Esper Panorama it taps for colorless but you can sack it when you need to for Nocturnus.
Maybe you can add Boodghast.
Maybe Blade of the Bloodchief is a good equipment card.

Yes, Blade of the Bloodchief seems a must have.

Should Liliana stay? Isn't Malakir Bloodwitch a bit expensive in this deck. I mean it costs 5mana.

put in 3-4 vampire nocturnus. add 3 kalastria highborn. Mix with 4 bloodghast and buried alive, trow in som dark rituals, blood seeker and captivating vampire. Hold on too your nighthawks, gatekeeper of malakir, and drop the bloodwitch is too exspensive. I wouldnt play Liliana. good luck...

add 4 bloodghast, and drop the following, 1 blade of the bloodchief, 1 captivating vampire, 2 hexmage, 2 feast of blood, 1 kalastria highborn, 1 blood seeker, mayby 1 go for the throat. Add also 2 vampire nocturnus and 1 dark ritual. Good luck... (the bloodghast with kalastria is sweet, and if you start with a dark ritual and a buried alive on your hand, turn 2 u play swamp, and you have 3 bloodghast in play, oh happy days!!!).

no, and mayby this card isnt for this deck, i named it because i was planning a black/red vampire deck. Yawgmoth makes other lands swamps in addition to its other land type, if a mountain gives red mana, you can tap it for a black instead. But mayby Lake of the dead is better. Im a little unsure on the rules, but i play Lake of the dead i sac a swamp, and the card says tap, sac a swamp and add 4 swamp so the turn it comes in play, i think, you get the 4 mana in play for the cost of 1 swamp. So turn 2 you could play 4 mana!!!

I asked in the forum about Lake of the dead. You sacrifice one swamp when you play the land, and another when you tap it for BBBB.

Well if you look at your bloodghast, and u look and see you have 3, sac your bloodgasts. Then, when you opponent plays a land, seeing as they HAVE to eventually, you get a free bloodghast. This is a trick for early game or if ur mana screwed, and seeing as this is an early finishing deck, this trick is useful

*My bad. I meant when you play ONE land instead for two.

Actually, it still has to be your land. Landfall is "whenever a land enters the battlefield UNDER YOUR CONTROl.

Well... i mean, still, cast buried alive on three bloodghasts, then summon one per turn from the graveyard in the next three coming turns. And you know what? You didnt even pay for it. Lol. Talk about cheap creeps/

Actually if you drop all three into the graveyard one Landfall ability could return all three back to the battlefield. Why wait for three?

ok i can see where u r goin with this deck but for a vampire deck if u like draw power try gettin more lifegain like child of night a 2 cost 1/2 with lifelink ,phyrexian arena is a great card to use in a black deck tha uses life gain cause in exchange of one life u get an extra card every turn and using cards like tendrills of corruption or even corruption will replenish the life u lose n more n if i were u i would think about grabbing kalestria bloodchief for she is grea at clearing fields and then swiping for major damage

ok for the remark about the bloodghast sure it works but what if you draw 2 in your opening hand and you play and put the other 2 in your library the other bury alive cards are gonna be useless. I dont think there worth having when you can put some other vamps in here for them or at least cut down and not have 4 of them. You can do whatever you want im just saying once you play one buried alive the other 3 are gonna be pretty much useless

Well. I think i make changes..
I take out the buried alives. Those are nice with the Bloodghasts, but as mentioned above, it needs too much of luck.
I think I take out bloodghasts as well and put some child of the nights or Malakir Bloodwitches

Also Quietus spike my work well with this deck id probably cut the blades of bloodchief down to 2 and put in 2 quietus spikes

ya quietus spikes work well cause they also give deathtouch which may help your highborn out. Check out my vampire deck Children of the Night I also run Vampiric tutors to help my get the dark depths out with the hex mage

The only problems I see is the creature destruction. Doom Blade is a good sideboard card, but worthless when you're playing black. At least Go for the Throat can take out black.

I would get rid of the Doom Blades and put in Black Sun's Zeniths instead. Also, if you're going to be running Dark Rituals, you need 4 of them.

hmm.. interesting deck. Not sure about Black Sun zenith. it puts -1/-1 on EVERY creatures. do you compensate that with hexmage?

dont run black sun for hexmage can only save one creature for it removes counters from one pernament not all black sun was made for black infect n sum proliferate black blue but not vamps

i would sugest u grab tendrils of coruption n get rid of all the other lands take a look a my vmpire deck

For creature removal replace both Go for the Throat and Doom Blade with Duh and Devour in Shadow. Both black and artifact alike will shake in their boots.

If I was you I would throw in some Viscera Seer to speed up the saccing for Kalestria Highborn, but that's just my opinion.

its an ok deck dont see the point in running red in here when u have only 2 spells that use red if u need removal use another creature like gull draz assassin he is fun cause they will waist their time to kill him and leaving u open to kill them with others and where are your vampire nighthawks one of the most broke 3 cost creature ive ever seen 2/3 flying deathtouch and lifelink
