Deck Description

This deck is to utilize the full potential of Counters in a devestating manner.

Fertilid w/ Doubling Season can allow you to pretty much pull your entire land base out in 1 or 2 turns; while Stingmoggie allows you to pretty much destroy all of someone's lands & artifacts in 1 or 2 turns. Pentavus for example can keep producing more & more tokens to buff themselves or be Devoured for other creeps. Almost all of these cards benefit from the exponential gain of several Doubling Seasons.

Apocalypse Hydra for example: If you pay 5 or more on X for the Hydra, it comes out w/ 10, +1/+1 counters. If you have 2x Doubling Season out, it hits the battlefield w/ 40, +1/+1 counters. Remove a +1/+1 counter, deal 1 damage to target creature or player = GG. The beauty with Doubling Season, it keeps multiplying. So a Scute Mob w/ atleast 2x Doubling Season on the battlefield means if you have over 5 lands @ Upkeep, each turn it perma-buffs for an additional +16/+16, if you had 3x Doubling w/ Scute, each turn it gains +32/+32. And not to mention using Deathrender like a cheap Polymorph to pull the high CC creeps out while Workhorse helps with mana.

Let me know what ya' think! I'd also like some good input for the best lands to use with this setup!

-Our bodies are given life from the midst of nothingness. Existing where there is nothing is the meaning of the phrase, "Form is emptiness." That all things are provided for by nothingness is the meaning of the phrase , "Emptiness is form." One should not think that these are two seperate things. ~Hagakure, From the 2nd Chapter

Deck discussion for Pentavical Destruction

Wow dude, you got lots of stuff in here that revolve around counters and that's sick nasty in itself, but I know the deck is based around Doubling Season and i think if you added some tutors to ensure you grabbed it you'd be in better hands. Demonic Tutor, Diabolic Tutor, Idyllic Tutor, and Enlightened Tutor are all good choices. My main concern is the size of all your decks bro, they are way too big. I had buddies not too long ago just get back into magic and they kept playing with 80 card decks and i finally got through to them that it's best to play 60.
Steel Overseer is good, mix it with Mycosynth Lattice. Scute Mob is awesome as well for a one drop. Evolution Vat and Solarion are other good choice for this type of deck. I get the combo, but it needs to be more focused and narrowed down to 60. Right now i give 5/10 because it's a sick concept idea. I'll definitely give it higher rating when you improve it.

Alright bro, I spent alot of time tweakin' out on this tonight.. This is done, no if's, and's or but's about it. It's as small as I can afford for it to pull off what I'm goin' for. I'm sure you can see the primary focus of this being Apoclypse Hydra either for his sTr8 damage or used w/ Ion Storm. And if they fail, well... you see how fat I'd be sittin' w/ Thunder-Thrash or Scute & others.

I have alot of luck w/ larger decks because of how well I focus on keepin' certain cards limited or maxed and I've read all the guides for smallest deck & it's speed vs. larger decks & their "potential IF" you draw the cards. I like the bigger decks personally, they hardly fail for me; but to each their own I guess.

But w/ this particular deck, you're totally right. It's 64 w/ 20 land, but Workhorse helps w/ mana as well as Furtilid. Goddess-damn is Furtilid sick for pullin' land in this deck! Not to mention the Deathrender for speed. Only bad thing is, you don't wanna' use Deathrender with Apocalypse Hydra, lol.

But I think you'll appreciate the work I put into this tonight. It's retarded the amount of crap I write in a notebook comparing notes to try & refine this sh*t, lol. I think this is razor-sharp effective now. Took a few things out, adjusted card #'s on others & added a couple suggestions of yours. So what ya' think, would this be a deck you'd feel challenged against?

Much batter dude, but the only card that seems odd to me is Rhys, just doesn't work well enough with what you got going on because he has to make a token before it even gets anywhere, i'd swap him for 2 Pentavus for sure and maybe take out four forest and put in two Rootbound Crag and two Sunpetal Grove. Definite improvement, i like the Fertilid and Stingmoggie the most, destroy their lands and fetch yours, nice! 9/10

Yeah, I had already had that doubt about Rhys myself. Pentavus + Deathrender, nasty. Let me mess around w/ this a sec. Alright. I liked those ideas & I'm not too familiar w/ alot of the special lands yet, so thanks again! I like that combo better actually. 4x Pentavus w/ 4x Deathrender. Lands really help too.

I have to say that i really like this deck. It seems like it would be really fun to play with and hard to play against. I can't really see anything to changeor improve on. Nice job

I did the math with some of these guys with all the Doubling Seasons. Here's the table for possible creeps for each copy of Doubling Season:

1x Doubling Season
================
Scute Mob adds +8/+8 each turn to itself.
Thunder-Thrash Elder if you Devour 6 creatures it's 36/36 when it comes into play.
Pentavus comes into play as 10/10.
Apocalypse Hydra if 5 mana is paid, comes into play as a 20/20.
Clockwork Hydra comes into play as 8/8.

2x Doubling Season
================
Scute Mob adds +16/+16 each turn to itself.
Thunder-Thrash Elder if you Devour 6 creatures it's 72/72 when it comes into play.
Pentavus comes into play as 20/20.
Apocalypse Hydra if 5 mana is paid, comes into play as a 40/40.
Clockwork Hydra comes into play as 16/16.

3x Doubling Season
================
Scute Mob adds +32/+32 each turn to itself.
Thunder-Thrash Elder if you Devour 6 creatures it's 144/144 when it comes into play.
Pentavus comes into play as 40/40.
Apocalypse Hydra if 5 mana is paid, comes into play as a 80/80.
Clockwork Hydra comes into play as 32/32.

4x Doubling Season
================
Scute Mob adds +64/+64 each turn to itself.
Thunder-Thrash Elder if you Devour 6 creatures it's 288/288 when it comes into play.
Pentavus comes into play as 80/80.
Apocalypse Hydra if 5 mana is paid, comes into play as a 160/160.
Clockwork Hydra comes into play as 64/64.

Really nice deck you got goin on there, I highly reccomend adding Godsire to this deck, also I think you can easily bring this deck down to 60 cards, other than that. Another fine submission. 8.5/10 on this one boss!

I've tried, this deck originally was alot larger. But 64 is the minimum for it to pull of what I'm aimin' for here. Novablast is the primary driver along w/ Scute & Ion Storm. I'll definately check out Godsire & see what he's all about. Thanks for the advice!

He's a 8/8 multicolored beast that has vigilance. But the really damn good thing bout him is that he has an ability thatlets you tap him and create an 8/8 beast token and it costs nothing too, and since he has vigilance you can attack for 8 damage, then tap him and make another 8/8 monster. All that for 8 mana (1 red, 2 green, 1 white, and 4 colorless)

Yeah, that sounds like a sick tactic. & Since it's a token I create more than just the one each time he pops a token.

But try & think of this. Thunder-Thrash Elder, use him to Devour 9 creatures w/ 4x Doubling Seasons, means he hits the battlefield as a 433/433, even with 3x Doubling Season, he'll come out as 216/216!

I found him on the Claws Of Vengeance deck while playing Magic The Gathering : Duels of The Planeswalkers. Do you have a steam account?

do. But I'm stuck on dial-up so I haven't been able to logon, update or download games. I want Duels of the Planeswalkers badly, my buddy let me play it. It's nice. I even got Left 4 Dead 2 for X-mas, right? Get this, dialup... so I spend 2-3 days updating, it's finalizing & downloading the last bits of information @ 100% & someone calls & cuts the line, glitches the game to think it's updated, but won't play. So until I get broadband again, no luck for me.
But STEAM Account: screaminphoenix (no G in screamin) profile name I think is: -]sTr8-jAcKeT[-
But I can't get on anymore, too slow, won't load unless I let it sit for an hour. I do have an e-mail address: [email protected]

Nice deck but looking at your mana curve, you need more mana as with something like Apoc Hydra which requires spent mana in order to become extremely powerful. Adding it straight up my work or trimming 2 and adding the rest to empty space. I suggest adding the following mana.

2xRootbound Crag
2xSunpetal Grove

Other than then that, this deck looks fun to play and probably fun to face. Well done. I'll give it a 8.5 as I'm don't think its only an 8 but 9 seems a bit to high this time. 8.5 feels right. Well done.

Well the thing w/ this deck is that I can pull all my land in a matter of 2 turns if I nab 2x Doubling season & destroy all of someone else's land the same way. Fertilid & Stingmoggie are nasty. Plus I can use Ion Storm to take the counters off of all of the other cards & end the game that way, very quickly. About 4-7 turns into it you have a minimum of 12-14 lands, a few more turns & you're maxed out pretty much. Deathrender makes Pentavus a beast as well, hard to stop a turn 3 Pentavus w/ 1x Doubling Season. And don't forget Workhorse's counters give me mana as well. If anything I might up Workhorse to 4x. What'chya' think?
