Deck Description

If I'm playing standard, I'm going to cheat. Anyone who's played magic in the past knows the best way to cheat is to use the graveyard.

hey sure, 1stly love the small attention to detail and the spread of early spells, dismember, mental misstep , surgicall exctraction and, the control offered by these, then well if i was to list my favourite cards then phyrexion oblieterator, vengevine bloodghast (which i know your slightly obsessed with lol), primevil titan, and wurmcoil engine would most likley be in my top ten so i cant express my excitment seeing them all together its like an orgy of sorts !,

i feel some card draw if it could be worked in would empower the vengivines even further as you could refill your hand and cast quick creatures for longer as you wont burn out of cards, and so getting vengevine going for longer top deck as usual,

ive been busy but my last few havnt worked as would have hoped i have the ideas below ; if you could take a look that would be great as i think you'll like some of the ideas its just getting them to flow, cheers.

Hahaha, nah if you saw the look on the faces of the poor saps I tested this on, it's pretty close to cheating. It's fast as hell, but I think I'm gonna take out the Pharoah...Not my cup of tea =/

Sorry mate, but I dont really see the point. I mean, Bloodghast, vengevine, etc are all wonderful in graveyards. Somehow I think it is missing something, like Awz? said... You've done nothing wrong, but it feels like there should be some omgwtfbbq somewhere.

Also surewhynot, could you pop over and look at my standard tournament burn deck? You seem to reliably have good ideas and I would like your opinion if the deck could be improved in anyway. Thanx in advance.

Why did you drop Pharoah? He's awesome!

Like the others have said though.... you did your best, but its standard. life sucks.

I tried this deck, and honestly you don't have the room for tectonic edge. Even with for bop and 4 lotus cobra, it's just usually a card you put too much into, to get so little.

When they work out, they're good. But I think they'd be better as a 1-of.

Agreed. I've made the changes and it works much smoother now.

Hmm... I'm still not sold on the landbase.
21 is cutting it short, as is. even with the graveyard recursion. I know there's cobras and bops, but with every fetch crack, that reduces your count.
I think you'd be a lot safer running 23. minimum. you really don't need mental misstep. I mean sure, turn 1 inquisition sucks, but you've got so much stuff you WANT in the grave... I wouldn't sweat it.

also, with smallpox, i'd really consider either 1 or 2 more solemn simulacrum. smallpox + those = hilarity. :P

I am not entirely sure what is so amazing about this deck. I can kinda see how the different cards relate but I can't really see what the "cheating" is. It seems like a legit deck to me.

Use Zombie Infestation's discard ability to pump out an early threat of 2/2 Zombies, while dumping a few Vengevines and/or Bloodghasts into the graveyard which all come back much earlier than I could normally play them.

My favorite part of this deck is the unhinged lands, but its also probably ridiculous in play. Sideboard?

Have you tried using something like Phyresis with the Phyrexian Obliterator? Kinda makes it a screwed if you do, screwed if you don't scenario for blocking.

surewhynot, normally, i'm a huge fan of the decks you make. whether they're fun goffy decks, or just god damn broken as hell decks, but honestly, this one doesn't have a ton of appeal to me.
It seems lacking (probably in the reanimate department, but also the big creature department. there's a lot of ramp in there and not much to ramp into)
maybe try running jund and throwing glissa and sarkhan in there?

secondly, i'm not sure about this deck, exactly, is "blatant" cheating. It looks like a GB ramp deck, but with zombie infestation (and no draw to suppot it...)

besides that though, I really do like the idea behind the deck, and normally i think you hit the nail dead on, but this one might be your first miss in a while. just me though... care to help explain it a bit to me? is there something about the graveyard in here that's actually cheating? all I see is glissa and vingevine... and those are the graveyard parts. the rest of the deck doesn't even feel very strong, much less cheating.... :(

and like i said, when i saw it was t2 graveyard deck called blatant cheating i was SUPER happy... then i got a bit disappointed because I normally expect such great work from you. xD you've been too good before, and set your standards too high. :P

Well, to be honest, this is about as much "cheating" that can be done with the limitations of standard =/

You missed the Bloodghasts along with Venge and Glissa. With Bloodghasts and Venge, I've found the deck to be pretty consistently quick. I might start looking into some means of draw, but at the moment the deck works nicely for me.

yeah. i see what you mean. I just don't think blood ghast and vengevine are good enough to made it amazingly worth while. especially with no dredge... it's a cool idea though! and it'll probably get much better with innistrad rumored to be a graveyard set.

On the topic of innastrad;
I don't give an eff, I'm building a deck with painful quandary when the set drops. THEY HAVE TO GIVE US SOMETHING TO MAKE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CARD USEFUL IN T2!!! D:
