Deck Description

I have a number of Elf decks, but this one has always been my favorite, and probably my best. It's actually a "Tribal Symbiosis" deck, and easily can be argued as being the best there is =}

Deck discussion for Llanowar Lupines

It's like the wolves of willoughby chase, and Hermy had sick twisted spawn, and it ate everybody's face off

Almost reminds me of my wolf deck! Actually it looks like my elf deck and my wolf deck had a child and this is it.

Love the concept.

Yeah sure I'll take a look at it.

I just realized that you made wolfbriar elemental work... I usually think of it useless in a deck that is majority wolves. Anyways, here's the link to my wolf deck if you would like to take a look.

Do you find it worth splashing red just for bloodbraid? Just curious.

Actually, I did that for a deck challenge and forgot to change it back. Thanks for pointing that out.

Don't you ever get sick of people shamelessly telling you to look at their decks, as opposed to giving good advice/comments about yours?

I do, and while I try to get to everyone's decks, I definitely put them lower on the list.

The elves with their quick mana ways and wolfbriar elemental, now thats a good combination.

Maybe turntimber ranger?

Yeah that would suck. Lucky for me, nobody actually uses Perish =P

Even if someone did use perish on him, he'd just use Fresh Meat! I'll have all my creatures back as bigger beat-sticks thank you very much! Also, Master of the Wild Hunt would fit like a beast in this deck! Nice deck though, very consistent!

Although doubling season is a nice addition... it seems rather overkill. I would think something like freshmeat would be better. Token generation is nice, but the deck has.... plenty. Plus it solved any mass removal such as perish.

0
Posted 28 May 2011 at 05:19

Y'know what? You have a good point there. Fresh Meat would make for such a great "SURPRISE ****ER!" moment on those few occasions that I get hit by mass removal. And yeah, DS is often unnecessary. Funny as hell, but unnecessary.

i dont think i would have named this deck, elves & wolves, but rather elves & friends. you cant forget to represent your beasts :P

Silvermoon? I think that's it, or maybe Silverymoon... from the Drizzt Series in Forgotten Realms. Moon ties in wolves, and i believe Silver(y)moon had elves in it... just a suggestion.

This may seem like a newbie question, but why would you add verdant catacombs? Wouldn't adding a normal Forest be easier than paying 1 life?

0
Posted 29 May 2011 at 18:13

It speeds up the deck. It puts a forest on the field for me, and takes another land out of the deck, thus "thinning" the deck and slightly increasing the likelihood of drawing a threat rather than an unnecessary land.

If this is purely casual then feel free to ignore. But in the event that you make a sideboard, I would definitely include 2 more fresh meats.

I'm still looking for a replacement name actually. Well sort of. The contest for the name HERE is still going, but my buddy Wumps came up with the best name for it, which I now use for the IRL version:

Wolfpack Only

Did you consider maybe throwing in a coat of arms? When you get all those wolves out it would be great if they all had +x/+x where x is some ungodly number.

Also for a name what about: My wolfpack just grew by 10,000

If you have the time could you take a look at my discard deck...ive been trying to finagle it but I cant seem to get it quite right

For a while Gary was offering to do it for people because the process of making a system for everyone to do it at any time would consume way more time and effort, and those guys quite frankly had/have more important stuff to do =/

So, for a short while, people would ask for profile pictures and Gary did his thing, etc. Buuuuut, it was more popular than he thought and soon WAAAAAAY too many people asked for it do be done than he, or anyone, could handle...so it's on a pause until other stuff is implemented. =]

Have you thought about putting in strength of tajuru? Use it kicked on warcaller and something else to make warcaller and all your other elves huge.

0
Posted 06 June 2011 at 18:18

The problem with that is it won't aid my wolves. The deck is for both tribes, and so over-concentrating on one detracts from the other.

0
Posted 06 June 2011 at 19:27

True, but unless I'm missing something, isn't the only thing you have capable of buffing your wolves packmaster? Making wolves excellent blockers and elves your kill factor.

Very nice theme deck. I use to use elves before switching over to my Myr ManaHate deck. I have always loved using green, and the mana is always useful.

Problem with that is somebody will just shorten that to the beastiality version unless you call it W/E.I.L.F.Y.U.W.

I would suggest "Dances With Wolves" due to the promenade

Sick combo would be to add Immaculate Magistrate with Warcaller and ruin your opponents life. I have done it plenty of times with my elf deck. Check my deck out and tell me what you think.

just drew a sample hand. got three elvish archdruids, 2 forest, wolfbriar elemental and an elvish guidance. is that a good starting hand?

My g/f loves wolves and I have been trying to think of a deck she would like to play. This seems to be a good solution. Great deck

0

I know this isnt in this deck, but you'll probably know the anwer to this:
If i attack witha bunch of elves, have a copperhorn scout, joraga warcaller and immaculate magistrate, does this mean i can put counters on the warcaller twice before combat damage is dealt (ie. once before attackers are declared and once after the magistrate is untapped by the scout.) ?

0
Posted 10 June 2011 at 07:39

Yeah, Wumps was actually working on an Elf Token deck that uses that combo. It's a very effective way to get your elves huge very fast.

0
Posted 10 June 2011 at 08:52

also if i could ask one more question - if you have no untapped lands and you genesis wave out a land and an elvish guidance, can you put the land down with guidance enchanting it? hence then tapping it for mana after the genesis wave has resolvved?

0
Posted 10 June 2011 at 08:24

You can put choose the order the permanents come into play if their order is pertenent to some sort of action, such as enchanting. You can also tap the land for mana, buuuuut you can't use that mana to make the "wave" stronger.
