u no, i was surprised you didn't include sliver legion, considering the title. w/ gemhide and ancient ziggurat you'd be able to play it.

I dunno, I think Ally decks are worse than Slivers >_>
I've seen the old counter-sliver designs replacing them with the douchey newcomers, and do pretty beastly

No denying Allies are really good, but they aren't as good as Slivers. Slivers are so good that when making a deck, the hardest part is focusing down to 60 cards.

There's like...75 Slivers...And about 70 of them are excellent in a Sliver deck.

Yeah... One friend runs Allies, another Slivers... They both also carry around Zombie decks, so whenever somebody says the word 'tribal', I instantly do as such.

http://www.myfacewhen.com/51/
That face adequately describes how I feel about tribal games in my group.

And I agree that the real trouble in working with Slivers is trying to keep them contained, to achieve this a third person in our group has a Sliver Overlord EDH...

0
Posted 21 July 2011 at 23:30

That's exactly why Slivers, Allies, and actually Zombies too are banned from Tribal in our group. Same with the other banned tribes, they just take away the fun and laid-back feel of the "format".

Btw, how awesome would it be if "Tribal" became a recognized format like EDH did?

0
Posted 21 July 2011 at 23:34

If tribal gets recognized, I would finally have a use for a cardboard box I have. So I'd be pretty pleased.
I'm fully behind Zombies being banned, as they can't be beat when it comes to the quality of Lords... And as numerous as the Zombie Lords are, it's obnoxious when two are at a casual table :/

Again I say, I'd probably use Humans or Wizards :P

0
Posted 21 July 2011 at 23:40

When people read our banned tribe list they often say "Zombies? Why?". Zombies aren't really noticed as much as they should be...Which is odd. Zombies have almost as many lords as Merfolk and Elves...That's a big deal.

Our group has found through experience that Human is REALLY hard to make without making it also count as something else...almost all Humans are also something else...and a number of those are on the banned list.

It can be done, but you gotta finagle it a bit...Like have 9 clerics or something =P

Our group is strongly considering (i.e. looks inevitable) banning Wizards...They're damn good. That's not to say that you can't have fun abusing them in your group until they decide to ban them too though =P

0

Well, just tonight we officially banned Wizards as a tribe =P

Our reason? Azami. God damn Azami...

Azami? REALLY?

0
Posted 22 July 2011 at 21:59

Well, not just Azami, but she was definitely the last straw =/

Overall, Wizards are just a damn powerful tribe and we really should have banned them earlier =P

We're also gonna ban Rogues...but there's some "issues" with that

I played a 2 on 2 team battle with someone that had slivers. his deck had the infinite combo with sliver queen and something alter to pump out 1/1 sliver tokens. my teammate and I killed his teammate he killed me. the only reason why we won was because my teammate has a black card that said for each attacking creature you take 1 damage. he attacked with everything and lost before the combat damage was delt for him to win. :)

he was so pissed when I told him we won. :)

I've always had a difficult time building Slivers. So much, in fact, that to this day I still have not built a Sliver deck. I start removing a few to get the deck down from 90 or so cards, and then begin juggling back and forth between colors and support spells. By the time the hour is up, I've made 6 different decks XD Well, I've also never had the land base to support more than 3 colors until recently.. that's a huge determining factor.

Anywho, so far as tribal is concerned, I made a Nomad tribal using your format rules. I hope your idea of casual isn't too different than mine :P My serious decks are usually all control, so for casual I tend to omit it for the most part, and go for straight forward action. I was inspired by your format, and with those constraints in mind I think I've put together a rather fun deck :)

Have you considered Spinneret Slivers? They're a cheap drop, and Reach is always nice to have in case you're being stalled to death by something like UW control with fliers.

Mistake or not, if they weren't there then there would be a hole in magic. You need the ultimate hive mind evil. It's in star trek, its in star craft, its in master of orion... you need the hive mind. If only to check mark it off of the list and say "never again" I like them, but I dont make over powered nonsense like this, well... outside of highlander.

Finally surewhynot has made a sliver deck... I was expecting this...

What can I say... The land base is awesome, I wish I had the money to invest in revised lands, would make my deck that much better... I'm missing the obvious Sliver Overlord and Sliver Queen, but I bet you have your reasons... Other than that awesome as always surewhynot!

I've been playing slivers since last year... Consequence: Most of my friends have stopped playing Magic with me... I've to make another deck or I'm screwed with those guys...

Oh well, here it is, leave your opinion, I'm going to make an updated version of it sometime, using some of the cards in the sideboard:

I seriously doubt any new slivers need to be added, they're already almost impossible to beat and I know that if Wizards did ever make any new ones then I'd never be allowed to play with my sliver deck with my friends again XD

i presume that this is legal and this is why but crystaline sliver is the greatest they ever created, means you gotta deal with the crystaline before dealing with the others , that costs you a card and by then its to late ! awsome, slivers just rock i really should build one, i did have a couple of queens back in the day,

well done on this one, hope you check my stuff out sometime.

0

Well, yes silvers are kinda insane. And perhaps one of the most unbalanced things to come from wizards... I wouldnt take them out of magic for anything. Even if a half brain dead person can make a reasonable silver deck. Here in europe we play a format called highlander (NOT EDH) and silvers are sometimes amusing for that format, though in general they get stomped on. Everyone knows, oh silvers. "KILL THEM". Besides... ArchEnemy is fun with them :D

i really only play limited and standard, and have lost track of whats in extended, modern, and basically every format ever. however, assuming that you can play it (it's not THAT old) no mutavault? :o what's up with that? i know it's colorless, but still, it's mutavault!

0

why do people like sliver decks? there is no skill required at all... the most "hand holding" decks ever. "everything have have is exactly the same and does everything" just cast whatever you happen to draw and win. how is that fun? it makes anyone who plays slivers look too stupid to play an actual deck.

Ugghhh... Seeing this again makes me remember my friend's Sliver deck..

Honestly, there is no real way to improve a Sliver deck because they practically build themselves, kinda like a more creature based Cascade deck. Obviously I'm no fan of cascade either because these types of decks lead to unimaginative deck building; however, there is no denying their effectiveness. They're great because they were made as such.

An awesome combo that goes in any sliver deck is the Sliver Overlord paired with an Amoeboid Changeling. With that you can tap the changeling and pay 3 to take control of any of your opponents creatures. Other than that the deck looks nice and it doesn't look like you get mana screwed too much. Also I'd appreciate it if you could check out my EDH deck, with the Overlord as the commander, thanks!

Surprised you haven't gone for the most common win condition i've come up against with slivers: "spam slivers and be passive(ish) for a while, then play Shadow Sliver and obliterate everyone since they can't block them". Shit's me off so bad haha

0

lol be careful though, if someone casts fog then during the other person's turn the slivers can't block because of the shadow, that happened to my friend once and he lost cuz of it XD
