Deck Description

Oona EDH

Designed to be how I'd imagine fighting Oona and her army -- A frustrating ordeal with a ton of little faerie bastards flying around driving you crazy =]

How to Play

Just like the mantra of the Fae, you should start harassing your opponent(s) as soon as possible, and never let up. This is more of a 1 vs 1 deck, but it works in multiplayer too if you stick to one victim at a time. Stall and control all game long, before and after you get Oona into play. Once she's in play though, you can abuse her ability to completely change the game. The mill aspect of her ability will dish out huge damage, and the token producing aspect will give you a massive army of Fae. At that point it's up to you how you want to kill the opponent. Overwhelm with tokens, bleed them out with more control, mill them out, or kill with non-combat damage via enchantments and artifacts? Late game, the opponent is your plaything, so have fun with it =]

MOAR Decks! I don't even need to see the rest of the deck man! Dire Undercurrents is, now, even more amazing in my mind.

I was just toying around with my mono white control, and I changed it up a little bit (I'll guess that you know why I'm telling you). I also commented on your comment, so...comment back! lol

SWN, question:

I've been looking at some of your decks, and you utilize a lot of deck-thinning land cards. It wasn't until you explained it in your Sacrifice deck that I understood how important that technique can be to speed everything up a little and draw what you really need.

Does it have that much of an impact on the flow of your deck? I'm asking because I'd like to throw a few Marsh Flats or Verdant Catacombs in my Sac deck, but I can't really afford it (after buying 4 Demonic Tutors and 4 Bloodghasts). Will Terramorphic Expanse style lands be somewhat as effective even though the basic lands enter tapped? I threw in a few Phyrexian Arenas to speed up the draw rate- but do you think that does the trick?

I know it's not related to this deck, I hope that doesn't bother you. Please give your advice if you can.

Thanks.

It makes a very small difference adding in fetches...around 2%

It DOES make your deck faster and more consistent, but if you're tied to a budget, then not using fetches is a smart choice.

Terramorphic, because the land comes in tapped, should only be used for mana-fixing, and never for accelerating your deck...because it usually won't.

Phyrexian Arena is always good for a jump in draw power. If you have Bob (dark confidant), then he might be better, it really depends =]

That makes a lot of sense, thanks for explaining it. And I did pair Phyrexian Arena with a Deathgreeter (sac-based deck), so hopefully that'll balance it out.

I really appreciate all that. Also, that sacrifice deck you made a long while back- amazing build. My first deck after picking up Magic for the first time in a few years was a similar build- but I was able to learn a lot from looking at yours (hope you don't mind that I took a few ideas). Some of your combos were just too impressive to ignore (like the land fetches + Bloodghast, never really looked at that card that way, which is why I asked about the fetches).

I try not to ask people for this; but your opinion would be awesome considering how much money I've shelled out for just this deck- I wanna at least try to get it right. Would you mind taking a look at it when you have a few minutes?

Thank you again!

FME, Thoughtseize and other hand disruption isn't good enough. There's much more things you could use, like Damnation or Decree of Pain, or you could use Glen Elendra Archmage.

Reliquary Tower is always good in EDH, so use it!

Love the deck man!

@Dag: Eh, Damnation/Decree would hurt me a whole lot too, since this deck makes use of a lot of annoying little dudes. It's sort of themed to be how I'd envision fighting Oona would be -- An annoying fight with a ton of little faerie bastards swarming around you.

I forgot about the tower though, so thanks for that =]

@leelamarre: If you could post me the link, that always helps me a lot more than sifting through decks =]

How about Geth's Grimoire? You seem to have enough discard effects, and when they're mana sccrewed, they've got to discard to seven.

Wow, this makes me kind of sad I gave my buddy all my Oona's. She seems a lot more epic right now than previously believed.(outside of Dragon scheiße)

Oh yeah, and she's surprisingly effective for Multiplayer EDH too. After beating up one player with her ability (and hopefully with the aid of Rings of Brighthearth) I usually have a crap-ton of little flyers that can be quite a nightmare =P

I'm still unsure what to make as my #10. I have this really cool box that perfectly fits exactly 10 EDH decks...So I really want to make 10...Any ideas for the tenth?

Well I just made a really dickish nephilim EDH, so I'm in the mood to suggest one of them. They're super fun, and they allow such variety it's insane.

Oh nice! I'll go check it out =]

Our group, and I think many groups, allow the Nephilim to be used as generals for people who want to make 4C EDH's =]

SWN: I know that you really don't like the tribe but what about a sliver EDH? I don't think anyone's ever done one before. but it could be too hard to do with all the different colors you would be using.... I don't know, just a thought. :)

You've really never seen a Sliver EDH? I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but honestly I see them all over the place...They're quite easy to make =P

Yeah, really common. I've made two myself, and seen about three more.

I have another idea for you SWN, I think you should make an eddie built around one the original dragon legends.

You mean one of the actual Elder Dragons? That might be a fun one. I'll add it to my list of considerations =]

Yup, Elder Dragon, build AROUND one. As I said in the Forums, maybe Jor Kadeen, or Cromat.

thread steal? xD not to intrude but i have a buddy with a jor kadeem and him with any sort of card draw is just insane. Just imagine a boros being able to throw out a tempered steel whenever they want with things like trancendent master, dragonlord, student, and figure of destiny >> plus being able to take advantage of any and all artifacts you can run? ridiculous

to be honest I haven't gone looking for a sliver EDH and that I can remember I haven't seen one on the front or upcoming pages. My friends don't play EDH or we haven't yet. I'd like to get into it but haven't had the time or money to try and build a good one yet. plus I'd probably post it up here before I made it for tips and tricks from you guys. :)

hey man, you asked recently if i played edh, i dont however my group has been trying different formats and one was whay we called a highlander deck which i think is the same as edh in fact im guessing thats the h right ?, anyway ours only had 60 cards but i ran a counterspell, destroy theme with ots of card draw and some big bombs and it played really well, ive played it still in constructed and it holds its own, i found it a really fun but challenging build as you have to pay more attention to casting costa ect as its hard to include all the spells you want at the right casting cost, but like i say i found it fun, i presume edh is an extended version of that, why the 99 cards ?, and whats the norm in terms of land i may have a go at your format so any do's and dont would be great, it may also mean i can look at your edh decks at last and have a better idea of what is going on lol, like this one i can see its a swarm of a deck that just keeps producing and keeps at em, it alsohs its tricks like the titans as bombs and i love hatred they wont see that one coming in this deck i dont think, looks good to my infant eye anyway, should i post my highlander deck its only 60 cards but will give an idea of the theme i guess ?, ive also reworked my snapcaster mage deck and built a werewolf i'll post links if yu dont mind, and do come back to me about this edh buiss, you may have created a monster lol, cheers mate.

EDH has 99 cards + the Commander, which in this deck is Oona. Just like your Hilander format, you can only have 1 of any non-basic land card. You're only allowed to use card that are the same color as your general. Some people allow this, but the official ruling is that you can't have any mana symbols in the rules text that aren't the same color as the general. Hybrid cards that have one of the general's colors but also have an outside color can't be used (e.g Murderous Redcap in Oona).

If you need any ideas on EDH you can take a look at my deck as well, btw. I've made tons.

Have a great day, and win at FNM!
