Switched out Enlightened Tutor for Idyllic Tutor.. less powerful card, obviously, but makes the deck Modern legal. If you've got suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

I haven't had the opportunity to play test it against many different decks.. seems to have some problems with aggro decks and decks that can get their engine rolling a bit sooner. This deck starts rolling around turn 5 from what I've experienced. True, Idyllic Tutor would make it modern. Any suggestions to help it out - particular weaknesses you see? I try to keep the sideboard defensive to handle different decks.. like Defense Grid as a means to slow down counter and burn, for example.

Nice deck, especially for how cheap it is. I can definitely understand the struggle with not being able to buy expensive cards. I actually use MTG Virtual Playtable right now (It's only 20 bucks and lets you play test decks you want to build before buying as well as play online against others - I highly recommend it) considering that I'm also poor and serving as a volunteer in a different country for 2 years.. lol.

Anyway, if you have a bit I'd implore you to check out my first deck on here.. :P

A little bit heavy on the land for such a low mana curve, in my opinion. You could probably afford to drop a couple lands to make room for more instant cards.

I'd drop the dispel and spell snare cards for either Swan Song or Rune Snag. I'd also even out your Monastery Mentor's and Soulfire Grand Master's at 2 a piece.

Other than that, this looks like a pretty solid deck.

If you've got the time, check out my first deck on this site. :)

I'd need to test play the deck to figure out how much your card advantage works out to pull some of the cards you need.. but here's my suggestions..

First, if you're looking for extra turn combos this deck needs Panoptic Mirror. With that card you could imprint your Time Warps and Temporal Mastery cards and guarantee yourself an additional turn on each of your turns. That being said, I'd drop a couple of your Time Warps and Temporal Mastery cards and go with 4 Panoptic Mirrors as it looks like you've got enough card advantage to pull them no matter what.

Next, I'd drop Dictate of Kruphix for another Howling Mine. The only advantage Dictate gives you is Flash, where as Howling Mine costs less and gives you more control over your card advantage.. you might be in a situation where you have enough card advantage where you can afford to not draw the additional card yourself and also not allow your opponent to draw additional cards.

You might want to consider dropping (some of) the explore cards for additional counters to give you more control.

I also think 2/2 might be a better ratio for Walk the Aeons and Crucible - how frequently are you getting your Crucible for the main combo?

Can't think of much else.. anyway, this is a pretty solid deck.

I'm pretty new here but if you have time check out the first deck I built (I don't actually own them as I play online right now.. volunteering in a different country)
