I have the same attachment to the charm. Your are correct everything is meta dependent. My meta is super control and storm heavy. This deck destroys 75% of my meta but never gets first because jund and tron are always the ones i face which i lose to.I do have one question about your sideboard. Why the torpor orb and ratchet bomb. To clarify i have not tried either. Is orb mostly for pod and snapcaster?
I do like this deck better then your red version. Personal preference i would run 3 bitterblossoms instead of the funeral charms. Bitterblossom gives the deck great odds againtst blue decks, or can sometimes provides blocksers against zoo if you cant get bridge out. Another option would be buried ruins as a one or 2 of. Great way to get bridges and racks back if they get destroyed.
I have tried to make the 8-rack deck work for months and never pushed it into competitive game play. Red splash looks interesting but i would recommend blightning because it is so good. I still dont feel that 8-rack is great. It beats burn and twin easily but loses to so many other decks
You have 3 geth's verdict mainboard but 4 diabolic edict's sideboarded. I would at least change one of those to a geth's verdict for the same effect with the life loss. Interesting take on the devotion mono black
Currently im working on a standard black deck as well. Some cards i would replace would be the deathgaze birdy. Better card would simply be nightveil specter. One less mana cool effect with 3 devotion.
