Deck Description

An elvan Hoard deck made for a friend. Bellow will be a detailed breakdown of the deck and why I chose the cards I did. To make your lives easier any card mentioned below outside of the deck is in the sideboard. Comments and suggestions are always welcome to help improve the deck. ^^

Deck Breakdown:
For starters I'd like to say there are a LOT of elves and having not used them before it took me some time to sort through all the great ones to find the best of them for this type of deck. That said elves have a lot of effects and it is difficult to utilize them all, instead this deck will focus on abusing one of their powerful effects, token creation. Imperious Perfect, Rhys the Redeemed, Ambush Commander, and Elvish Promenade all excel at token creation and made for really solid choices as they could get out tokens nice and fast. To work with all these tokens Joraga Warcaller, Imperious Perfect and Coat of Arms boost not only the tokens but all the elves in play very effectively.

To enable this deck some real killing power I threw in Immaculate Magistrate, Ezuri, Renegade Leader, Ambush Commander. Each of them works very differently but bring a nice punch to the deck. Some would prefer Jagged-Scar Archers or Drove of Elves over Immaculate Magistrate but Immaculate Magistrate can give himself and others the same +X/+X that the Jagged-Scar Archers or Drove of Elves gain in +1/+1 tokens! This means you can beef up more then 1 elf instead of having 1 big one. In addition he is only better with the Wirewood Lodge land in play allowing you to use his effect more then once each turn.

For synergy with both token and counter production I threw in Doubling Season. Though Parallel Lives will accelerate token production for less mana Doubling Season has synergy with tokens and the previously named cards Joraga Warcaller and Immaculate Magistrate doubling counters as well.

Being this is a green deck it wouldn't make sense not to have some mana ramp so Heritage Druid fills the role quite nicely allowing you to use your tokens and elves that are sitting around as lands. This works brilliantly for getting quite a lot of kicker on Joraga Warcaller, or for abusing Rhys the Redeemed token creation effects, or even getting off more then one Ezuri, Renegade Leader effects in one turn.

Realizing this deck requires getting specific creatures out together I added Wirewood Herald and some Green Sun's Zenith both with great "fetch potential". I was debating about putting in Primal Command instead of Green Sun's Zenith but what's nice about Green Sun's Zenith is how it brings the creature to play so you can use their effect right away. (Lookin at you Ambush Commander while Ezuri, Renegade Leader is already in play...). In the end its personal preference though. Wirewood Herald is very flexible as a fetch card because he can search for any creature in this deck or Elvish Promenade.

As always for deck flavor I threw in a Nissa along with 2 of her Chosen.

A concern I have with this deck is while fighting other tribal decks or token decks Coat of Arms boosts all creatures on the field not just your own. Being I haven't tested the deck I'm not sure if the sheer numbers of creatures this deck can produce will make that no longer an issue. Another issue this deck may face is dealing with flyers. If its an issue adding in some Jagged-Scar Archers should help. If your willing to tough it out however this deck should be able to put the opponent on the defensive forcing them to block with their flyers.

Deck discussion for Unleash The Furry Of The Elvan Hoards! :D (Elf Token Deck)

a pretty nice elf deck man ive been looking into elves my self here as of late and alot of the cards i have in my future deck list are in here so bravo i would suggest however that instead of heritage druid preist of titania with the sheer volume of elves you will have you will have near endless mana in which to really pump into joraga warcaller....and as for your concerns about the deck you dont really need coat of arms seeing as how joraga warcaller pretty much takes care of that on her own what you need to be concerned about when running elves is spot removal now taking out the coat of arms and adding privileged position or asceticism could really help out. and as for your other concern dealing with flyers this could be accomplished in many ways but the simplest would be A. a well wisher so you just gain insane life B spidersilk armor giving all your creatures +0+1 and reach or C eldrazi's monument which kinda works double protecting from spot removal and giving all your elves flying.

but all in all a really nice deck good job

Thank you Mr.firearmor for the epic comment. You make a good point that Joraga covers the deck boosting very well and that perhaps i should cut out coat of arms for some defensive cards. Your suggestions how to go about that are very much spot on. In addition i overlooked Priest of Titania but she kicks some major ass so she's getting a spot in the lineup no doubt. I'll be editing the deck with your suggestions soon.

Link me your deck when your done throwing it together, I'd love to take a look at it. ^^
