Deck Description

Monored Zirilan of the Claw EDH.

The deck has a heavy reliance on the general's ability to tutor dragons as the toolkit of choice.

I know the deck still needs a few things, but I'll take any suggestions.
Known needs:
Thundermaw Hellkite (waiting for a reprint or to rotate out)
Proper Fetchlands
Wheel of Fortune
Planar Portal (to fetch general when he gets shuffled)
Abraham's Divining Dreidel (the Top)

Sideboard is General

How to Play

Hoarding dragon combines with any sac outlet to nab an artifact from the deck. Other dragons have a few powerful ETB effects.

There's a lot of combos hidden in this deck, so many that I'm still learning how to properly play it.

Deck discussion for Monored Dragon EDH

Moonveil Dragon is a good dragon in my opinion and with your General... Kilnmouth Dragon is a beast! Crucible of Fire is another good card for this deck along with Dragonspeaker Shaman too. Just some food for thought.
Aether Vial and Braid of Fire would probably help this deck a lot too.

I really like the suggestion for Braid of Fire, because it frees up mana during the main phase after I've tutored the dragons out, and I have enough abilities that can instant-speed fire that it'll only rarely go to waste.

I wasn't running Kilnmouth because I thought (wrongly) that Amplify triggered on cast, not ETB. Def going to try it and see how it works. I don't usually have a lot of dragons in my hand, but the fact that his ability is mana-free could be really good, even if he does just amount to a bolt for 1RR and a sac trigger.

Not sold on the shaman, Usually my mana goes in to abilities and not hardcasting, but maybe it'll help if the general gets shuffled. Will consider.

the problem with braid of fire... it empties the mana as soon as the next phase of the turn begins.....

Yup. But I'm swimming in activated abilities that I actually want to activate. Some of my dragons have them, I can burn through my Reito Lantern, suspend things, and I can tutor with my general all before my main phase.

Awesome Deck... I love dragons... Two suggestions... Dragonstorm might be nice. It's expensive but if your having trouble getting your commander out you will still be able to search you deck for another dragon.

Definitly check out the Kilnmouth Dragon like Drumhead21 said, it's probably my favorite dragon and the thing is insane especially if you have alot of dragons in your hand. I feel like Kilnmouth would kill it in this deck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like Dragonstorm, even if it only casts with storm=1, it would be beneficial, and not too expensive if I've got a mana rock out.

See note above on Kilnmouth.

pretty well built. i would suggest making room for Imperial hellkite and Koth of the hammer. both are amazing cards in decks like this.

I like Koth. Will be added.

I'm not sure about the Hellkite. Usually, I have the trouble that I end up with dragons in my hand that are very mana-intensive to cast and they limit my flexibility to get other things on the field.
Though it could be improved if I run Dragonspeaker Shaman.

this much is true, and i would deff try to get a shaman can only improve the deck. do keep in mind about zirilan's ability. u get that dragon for 1 turn then its exiled. with the hellkite u have late game options should it come down to it and u can just play it for its morph cost as a 2/2 creature if u have to.
