Duskmantle Guildmage + Mindcrank + any mill spells = win combo. Was this an accidental genius thing or did you know that was a thing beforehand, because until I saw this deck I had never thought of mindcrank as a good card.
Little bit of both! I new there was a synergy with mind crank but didn't realize how much so until I took it to play at my buddies playgroup and they all hated me into shame.
One more question: Why Geth's Verdict? I'm only asking because direct removal can get rid of exactly waht you want, or do you just want the kill and the life loss here?
Mostly because I had them already. effective removal life loss is a bonuus.
Added some Spellskite to protect my Guildmages from removal.

The fact that he costs 3, can't attack for a turn and dies to lightning bolt. If you had the money he might be better off as snapcaster mages.Also you would want 3-4 surgical extractions in your sideboard(I almost always run 4:P)I would use them in place of Pilfered Plans.The thing with extraction is that you can just turn 1-2 beat combo decks with them.I side them in vs: Tron(stops mindslaver combo), any combo deck(splinter twin included) and graveyard decks.If you go turn 1 discard spell into pay 2 life surgical extraction removing their combo piece its basically game over.Vs storm you just have to remember that they normally side in empty the warrens.Also note you can extract an emrakul in response to the graveyard shuffle, the gy will still go back into the deck, but you can win through the emrakul.Other good sideboard cards are:Illness in the ranks(maybe a 2 of)*splinter twin, BW tokens and storm*This card stops twin dead if you land it, splinter twin makes token copies. It turns exarch copies into 0/3s and pestermite copies just die:P.Profane Memento can be good vs creature heavy decks.
In the end your sideboard will be determained by your meta game.Also I would turn the duress/despises into Inquesitions(may have spelt that wrong) of kozilek and or thoughtsiezes.
Thanks a appreciate the insight. Pilfered plans is in there as a stop gap. I need to dig through the lot I bought and look for some surgical extractions.
Np, modern is a fun formet and I love playing niche decks.I play 8-rack and turbo fog mainly.Both of which are really fun to play haha.

I was lucky and my store had this awesome sale/event and I traded in a bunch of cards for 800$ worth of store credit, paid for the whole deck haha.8-rack is fun, mostly because it annoys the shit out of everyone:P
Nice...I can only get to my store every once and a while these days and the guys that are there everyday buy all the good deals before i can.
Yeah we have 2 major game stores in my city.they both have great card selections like 20 FoWs and whatever else. Basically any format staple you can name(they even have a black lotus, not alpha, or beta, but still counts haha)They have like 2 great sales a year.
