Deck Description

The deck is, in essence, a combo-control deck. It aims to drop a Doubling Season on Turn 4, using Explore and Sylvan Caryatid to enable that, and follow that up with a Turn 5 Jace, Architect. Due to Doubling Season, he enters the battlefield with 8 counters, meaning I can ult him instantly, searching your library for your strongest creature and mine for another Jace. I then go through all Jaces at a preposterous rate, before going into a Tamiyo, ult her instantly, then slightly win. Not many people can deal with that kind of board swing in one shot, and I have infinitely recurable countermagic to push through removal for a win.

How to Play

Ideally, we play a control game through the first turns of the game, using Explore and Sylvan Caryatid to allow us to ideally play a Turn 4 Doubling Season. From there, we can happily play a Jace Architect, and chain them together as listed above. Off the last Jace activation, we will go for one of 4 different walkers. If they are playing Red, we could easily just find straight Bolts from their deck, pointing at them, then fetch a Chandra and kill them stone dead. If they AREN'T, then we can go for a Tamiyo to ult her, or if Tamiyo is in hand, go for a Ral. Ugin is there as a last ditch when both Tamiyo and Ral are in hand (which is, incidentally, quite useful to be able to throw our hand at the board) and if all four are in hand then you probably aren't playing the deck right.

Remember that we are a semi-control deck, and after sideboarding we can either improve our hate cards based on our matchup, or even board out most of our combo, and just end up as a Blue Moon deck which uses various planeswalkers as win conditions.

Deck discussion for Walking Season

I love the deck, it's amazing that it's fun, mostly unknown and very well refined at the same time.
