Oh yah!...Why the frick are they not in here...well I'll have to fix that! Thank you. I think I was on a first strike kick when I last edited it.

And in regards to Painful Quandry - Im not partial to its mana cost, BUT in a deck like this I should have time to get it out. If nothing else, this deck seems to slow my opponents down to a crawl. Ill see if I can get it tested out this week. Thank you

Thank you in advance. I agree with your comments. I have gained more MTG wisdom viewing and reading others decks and comments - and having mine critiqued - than playing 1000 games. Its been a wonderful experience and I love coming here. Here are three of my decks that I am stuck pondering.

My artifact deck, very...OK. Not nearly as quick or dominant as I wanted. Wins about 1/2 the time, but never gloriously: Deck link: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=79916

A black mana ramp deck that just does not feel or play right - cant put my finger on it:
http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=127428

And probably mt favorite deck that I am not 100% confidant about. I win a lot with it, but I am always left feeling like I lucked out and pulled it out of my ass. I wouldnt mind tips on how to make it more...sure.:

Thank you - and thank you anyone else who posts. I will be spending my next while focusing my comments on the decks on this page specifically as well!

Good - that makes me happy! Its always nice to see someone shares my humor. And a very sincerer thank you to you!

I like winning games, but I LOVE pissing my opponent off more. Nothing in magic gives me the same high! Rushing my opponent with 6 X 30/30 elves gets boring, and you always get the same 'good game', but when you really get under someones skin, no two freak outs are the same, you never know what will happen! Thats fun!

Now, if I can do both.... ;)

Yes you did... ;)

So, my only concern is the cost - 4 mana is pricey - it will slow me down even more, but I think it might be worth it. Certainly worth a try! Thank you very much!

Megrim was in here originally, but not for long, too much money for an effect that is already present. It would give me better odds, as you stated, but I am not sure it would be necessary. I have 4 so if ever I am in need, I can drop them in easy! Thanks for the advice through!

Player is forced to draw multiple cards, say 2 for the sake of simplicity:
card 1 - nothing happens
card 2 - player discards a card (the card 1 they had just drawn, if noting else) and keeps card 2. If they cannot, they much mill the top card of their deck.

This effect applies to each card drawn, so if 'Burning Inquiry' is uses, the opponent would have to do this twice.

Thats my understanding - the Oracle text on Gatherer is confusing - and looks like there is an endless loop. However, I think the actual card text is more clear - and realistic. If the endless loop existed, the card would simply be banned.

But that said, I just came off of a night shift and my brain is a little foggy...can anyone else offer some clairity?

Cooooool....for the sake of simplicity, Id actually drop either the red or the blue mana and just make this dual colored. You have similar cards that do similar things with each color. It will give you less options, but make it easier to play. Tri-colored decks are always just that more inconsistent. Personally, Id choose blue, there are simply more card options if you go that way. Otherwise - veeeeery nice.

Thank you sir!
You are dead on about blackmail...and Wrench Mind is beautiful - I forgot about that one! I think I will have to make those swaps for sure....maybe sign in blood too, your right its simply too handy to ignore...

Underworld just isnt with the theme...though, honestly, its one of my favs. And I am not sold on Wheel of Torture either, but just play testing it now and its hasn't been drawn yet at all ironically. Just supposed to act as another way to zing the opponent with no cards.

Thanks for the help sir! and I agree....Id like match....I wonder if MTGVault would ever add that feature (certainly cost money and Wizards would have their hands in it deep!)

Thank you for pointing out Kederekt Parasite - I like the card, and I never knew she existed. Unfortunately, as i sit, I only have 6 red permanents in the deck...Certainly going on my sideboard/'cards for me to think about board'!!!

Psychosis Crawler and Niv-Mizzet are simply a bit to pricey mana wise for me in this deck, if I am going to make this work, I've gotta be quick about it! I figure the deck is slow enough as is and REALLY wish I could think of some ways to speed it up without losing its fun factor or its effectiveness. Thats really my big concern at this point. I can think of too many fast decks that would tear this one up before it really got going.

That said, however, I think I feel the inspiration for another deck coming on...! This could be fun....thank you!

HA! That would be funny! Wouldn't want to see them together, they'd have F'cked up kids...

But you're right...not sure how they'd fit in.

You know...I love discard decks, and frankly I have always been a little prejudice against Nihil Stone...unless I got him in my original hand, he likely isn't that useful. However, I believe you are right - and my prejudice may have blinded me - Quest of the Nihil Stone would be fantastic in this deck! Now, just not sure what would be the right cards to remove...any suggestions?

....and thanks!

Beautiful start! Ill be watching this deck as I am curious where you will take it. Naturally it needs refining and needs to fit under 60, but very nice.

I bet!!! I have never actually played against a cephalid - as far as I know. Im fairly new to MTG and they were before my day (which was actually Rise of the Eldrazi), but I am thinking of trying to bring them back in style. My only issue with a tribal deck is that there are not a lot of them and it wouldn't leave me a lot of creativity. But, I suppose I should take that as a challenge.... ;)

Yah - I dont play competitively, just for fun. I never use a proper sideboard and just use the space here to store other random ideas. Not even sure how this deck would do in a competition and wouldnt know where to start with a real sideboard.

Ive just been watching, and honestly, I do not have any new advice that has not already been given. However, my brother has a very similar deck - and it is absolutely devastating to play against and would at this point out pace your considerably (though you have some good additions - I'm sending him the link for you deck for inspiration). His deck went from good to fantastic just by adding in 4 archdruids and 4 wolfbriar elementals. Yesterday we were playing and he had 13 2/2 wolves on turn 5 - and thats not even maxing out the potential by half! So, no new advice, but really consider the power of the wolfbriar elemental with the archdruids, neither are that pricey and honestly they can make things insane.

Here is the link to my brother's deck. I noticed that it hasn't been updated. But just take one fog out and add in another druid and thats basically it.

Very nice - you got it.

The problem with discard decks - and they are hands down my fav - is what to do once they have no cards. I notice you have sign in blood - which is great, and you have some awesome creatures, BUT really, you will need more support than that if you really want to be effective.

So my suggestion, lose Quest of the Nhil stone, only truly effective if you get it in your opening hand (ive had it sit on the field with zero counters lots) - or at least drop it to 2 and bump the rack up one - thats always an effective card.

Also drop mind twist like a hot potato. Think about it mathematically: 2 mana for 1 card, 3 for 2 and your opponent will never have 4 cards left in their hand when you get 4 mana to force a 3 card discard. And even for those costs, its just not worth it. Throw in a bunch of other 1 drop discard cards. Even with Dark Ritual - there are just so many better options!!!
Use those two slots for Temple Bell (surewhynot gave me that tip - BEAUTIFUL!).

My first discard deck had Augur or Skulls in it, and it was nice - but, after using him, and loving him, I had to drop him for better cards. So I recommend the Guul Draz Specter be given the full 4 cards - he has won me ALMOST as many games as The Rack.

I have not used Abyssal Nocturnus in my discard deck, so I cannot say from experience, but I would just think that you would not get a chance to make the best use of his combo as, again, when you get him out, your opponents wont have much to discard. But who knows, I can certainly see myself being wrong on that one, but I would have to agree with some of the other fans of your deck and say that Lilliana's Caress needs to be a full 4 too! Damn she is so sexy!

Lastly - and its just me, but I dont care for the discard cards that give me peek at my opponents hands, it just does not matter cause they will never see the board anyhow. I prefer the cards that I can get multiple uses of (VERY nice if your drawing your 5th mana in the row) like Ravens Crime and Cry of Contrition. But like I said, its a toss up and its just my pref.

Please give my deck a look over, and comment if you like, youre good, I wouldn't mind your perspective. Ive recently added Wheel of Torture and am not sure if its gonna be effective. Ill let you know when I try. Otherwise, before the deck won 2/3 of the time easy, and the rest were almost always close ones!

If this deck were mine, and I had to play it, Id likely make the following swaps:

-4 swamps : +4 Dark Ritual (A MUST!)

-4 stupid walls : +4 Vampire Lacerator (or Guul Draz Vampire/Guul Draz Assassin as they give you some nice options - if you insist on 1 drops, Kalastria Highborn [BEAUTIFUL COMBO with Plunge into Darkness] would not be a bad option here either - or Blade of the Bloodchief - your call)

-4 Corrupt : +2 Blood Tribute, +2 Child of Night

-2 Gatekeeper of Malakir : +1 Child of Night (Another), +1 Dash Hopes (DedWards is right! protects the Sanguine Bond and just plain handy!)

-4 Go for the Throat : + 4 Vampiric Tutor (or demonic tutor as it is easier to get a hold of economically)

-4 Exsanguinate (side board for multi player games) : +2 Plunge into Darkness, +2 Dash Hopes

Lastly, I agree with Voltronek. If you want to look at some other ways of black mana ramping (excessively) check out one of my decks for ideas:

I am not super happy with it - doesn't balance right, but it has TONS of mana and you can rip off some ideas.
