Sorceries (5)

Deck Description

Really straightforward. Cast creatures, kill theirs, run them over.

How to Play

The main point is to get big creatures out fast. These creatures have lots of devotion to black. This way when you can cast a grey merchant, it will really hurt. There are plenty of cards to kill your opponents creatures, and some consume spirits to finish off your opponent.

I'm not sure why you have the Bloodstained Mire in here. Cabal Coffers would fit quite well.

Essentially the mires are like drawing a card, as it thins out your deck. One less card, as the mire searches a swamp.

Coffers or shrine to nyx would give you a lot of mana fast

I often wonder why Exsanguate is never in decks that run consume spirit. For the same mana it targets all your opponents rather than just one. may be worth looking into

In a multiplayer game, yes, but this is a dueling deck. The fact that consume spirit allows you to target a creature OR opponent makes it more versatile

this deck would rule in the multi game area too because grey merchant hits all the players so i figured he'd want to kill all of his friends in a big game

Yes, if I play multiplayer, I would switch to a exsang ;)

I feel like Desecration Demon is not the best choice here.

Do you not play Magic very often? Desecration Demon is a beast from the middle east. Plus, it seems like this deck is out to get his creatures out fast while at the same time controlling the amount of critters his opponent has, which Desecration does wonderfully, especially when there are two Desecration's out. I can't count on my fingers and toes the amount of games I've won with my Mono Black Devotion thanks to Desecration. It's that good of a card, it's amazing.

This deck isn't standard though. Even last standard deso saw no play because it "simply is not good enough" some pro's words, not mine. Outside of the weak meta where mono black devotion is on top, cards like Phyrexian obliterator are immensely better. I personally would suggest dropping a 1 or 2 demons for lillana of the veils so that you can force the sacrifice at a lower mana cost. You may also want to run a curse of death's hold that way cards like lingering souls don't slow down your sac power.

run the curse sideboard* main board its totally uncecessary.

Demon is still a 4 mana 6/6 with flying. ahelmer is right, the demon is the best! Although obliterater is insane and ye it is better but demon is still a very good option. Liliana of the Veil can replace the Liliana of the dark realms though!

Yes, I know its really not going to be winning any tournaments, but I simply love the cards. I agree with the side board choice and LoV. Thank you.

I wonder why, with all this devotion you have to black, you don't run four Gray Merchants? Just curious.

I'm thinking that maybe a divinity of pride would be nice. Five devotion for the Gray merchant, and kicks butt when it comes to lifelink. And maybe run Thoughtsieze and Ultimate price instead of doom blade.

It's a good idea but I would tend to demigod of revenge instead of DoP

ooh I really like the Demigod, DoP is nice as well. Thanks

Add one more nykthos, I play a modern black devotion (vampires) deck, and the second Nykthos comes always handy ^-^
Also consider the fact that even though you use murder spells and dark rituals, you lack the speed to really make the deck top! Maybe adding a couple of gravecrawlers/thoughtseizes would be neat

It would be worth a couple of Necrobites in there, just to regenerate the Obliterator. Plus deathtouch, so that doesn't hurt either.
