Deck Description

Is EDH too expensive for you? Wanna play a fun deck that doesn't cost a fortune? Then allow me to introduce you to....Poor Man's EDH. For under $75 you can own a cool, powerful, and fun EDH deck that isn't too limited. Another under $50 deck with a hard hitting strategy, looks like we're on a roll! Sacrifice decks are always fun to surprise the other players with, and since we can budget it, it's going to bring plenty of fun surprises to the game! Enjoy!

(SLIGHT UPDATE) Took out Mask of Avacyn due to mana issues. Replaced with Swiftfoot Boots due to lower mana equip & current meta.
Took out Blood Artist due to weak power & toughness. Replaced with Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest for synergy & additional Commander options.

How to Play

Savra and the Golgari Swarm work wonders with life and death, using sacrifices and reanimation to continue the circle of life. Now, you can give your local play area a taste of some Deathreap Voodoo! Savra focuses on sacrificing for the cause, and your deck will happily take a dagger to the heart so the Swarm perseveres!

Savra herself is the most powerful sacrificial shaman in the deck. Whenever you sacrifice a black creature, you can pay 2 life to force everyone to sacrifice as well, and when you sacrifice a green creature, you can gain 2 life! Trying to bring her out early on can make sure that most of your sacrifices aren't in vain, and you will be makin plenty of sacrifices. Lots of creatures need a sacrifice to power their abilities (or for their entertainment) such as Bloodflow Connoisseur or Corpse Traders. With these cards, you can start sacrificing early on with Savra out to begin thinning out the competition's forces.

Now, the question of how to keep sacrificing might come to mind. Don't worry, there are plenty of creatures to sacrifice, and there are plenty of cards to help keep your battlefield full. Golgari Germination helps by producing saprolings when your creatures die, Tenacious Dead come right back after it dies for a little bit of mana, and Korozda Guildmage pulls double duty by sacrificing a creature to bring out more creatures! Also, there are a few ways to pull your creatures from the grave. A prime example of this would be Hell's Caretaker. He'll gladly open Hell's gates so you can retrieve you comrades....for the cost of a creature. Don't worry, you can always give him a saproling to trade for a Thragtusk to come back and haunt your opponent! Another way to retrieve cards from the grave is to turn it into a second library, which is exactly what Deadbridge Chant does! It takes 6 mana and a mill of 10, but each upkeep it picks a card at random from you grave to add to your hand...or if it's a creature, it brings it back to the field!

Savra knows that her sacrificial ceremonies aren't appreciated by everyone though, and brings a few menacing spells with her to eliminate interference. Murder is always a fun option, flat out killing a creature, or there's always a Plague Boiler she can empty. Plague Boiler is an artifact that builds plague counters until it bursts, and when this Boiler bursts, all nonland permanents became scavenger food! The best part is that you can empty or fill the Boiler to help control when it bursts, which can really turn around any near disaster! If all else fails, however, Savra turns to her Grimoire of the Dead to finish off the enemy. After studying it for a few turns, it unlocks a powerful reanimation spell that brings ALL creatures back from the dead as zombies on your side of the field, which almost always means the end of the game! Mastering the art of sacrifice can be a bit difficult sometimes, but with an excellent teacher in Savra, you'll be a Voodoo master in no time and commanding the circle of life and death to your whims!
