This recent change is based on the list of another player who won an event. Their list was very similar with the change of more creatures and less planeswalkers and we are going to try something similar. We are also modeling our sideboard after theirs and going to try Tasigur over Grim Flayer as I think flayer is poorly positioned with fatal push so prevalent.
You are playing a midrange style deck much like any other BGx deck in you are trying to out value your opponents. The plan is to get the game into a top deck war and win by having the better threats. There is a slight planeswalker sub theme as I think they are powerful and not as easily answered as some threats. Our sideboard is to help against combo and big mana strategies.
