You'll quickly see that Gatekeeper of Malakir is highly worthy of running at 4. It's really powerful.
Flesh to dust could be any number of things. It all depends on your meta. Options are dismember, victim of night, smother, or bile blight. My favorites there are Victim & Dismember.
For Nightmare I might suggest Nantuko Shade and/or Lashwrithe. Fourth turn you can equip lash writhe to a Vampire nighthawk amongst a whole other slew of cards.

The only reason I am reticent to run mind sludge is because I often start pitching lands to Raven's crime once I get to 3-4 lands. It's definitely a powerhouse in the right deck. I will add it to the SB.

Having that many different creatures will make your deck very inconsistent. Try to pick just a few and run multiple copies.
You should run different removal spells. The ones you've chosen, well... Stink.
Try Geth's Verdict, Bile Blight, Go for the Throat
Diregraf Ghoul is better than walking corpse, ruthless ripper should replace any other deathtouchers you have at the 1cmc spot.

Since you're running lots of swamps, take a look at lashwrithe

4 blue suns zenith is too many. That UUU it's going to make it tricky to cast, and it gets shuffled back in so it comes to even more often.
Also your mana curve is a bit wonky. I'm not sure you'll make it to your big guys. Ever.
Consider running Surgical Extraction, at least SB, this'll help with combo

I think it's only lethal in vintage. This deck is designed for modern, so I can't run it. I could ruin wrench mind, but idk.

That combo is nice but it doesn't actually limit the amount of lands they have, which is the control aspect of this deck.

Or victim of night if you have robots in your meta

I think solemn simulacrum should be some sort of a boardwipe. you're not running any removal and your deck is probably weak to aggro. Also you dont have any turn one plays. Remedy with Search for Tomorrow. It isn't too glamorous, but it'll get the job done.

hey I like your deck, I run R/G valakut, i have for a long time and I think the additions you made make the deck more controlling, rather than racing, which is pretty cool. I think most tournament valakut decks run 4 scapeshift and only two valakut because they figure they only need two to deal 18 damage. They splash blue for remand, draw, and cryptic command. And since you've already used a ton of money, why not use that fourty more for scapeshifts?
this deck looks awesome and is a cool variant I haven't seen or thought of before. Black is my favorite color so I was pleasantly surprised to find this, you have my like!

Can't block and can have counter removed. Also doesn't work with gravecralwer

Mogis' Marauder is cool. He can definitely end a field stall, but the hope is that I've overwhelmed my opponent's creatures enough by that point that I can just start swinging for game.
I agree with you on gravecrawler. The only reason I didn't run a third is because they're more expensive to purchase and I plan on attacking just about every turn anyways.

Post a link to your MB when you finish it, I'll check it out.

Cool deck! Only 12$? Awesome. Might have to buy this one. I've never been good at building blue, but I love the concept.

Also^ I run monoblack discard. Maybe you could snag an idea or two off of there. Since it somewhat fits your theme.

Interesting deck. Seems like a cool idea. You should maybe work on lowering your mana curve down into the 2-3 range because you'll get run over by agro. You should look into incinerate, lava spike, chain lightning, and I'm sure there are more. Also you should try and make your deck more REactive instead of proactive. You run lots of cool kill spells, but how much use are they if you're spending the entire game fighting things off on your turn rather than killing them as they come along? Basically try to include more instant speed cards.
Love the Raven's crime.
You should look into cards like Inquisition of Kozilek, Blackmail, duress, despise etc. Also my favorite kill spell, dismember. Or you could do go for the throat. Since you're running a lot of burn spells maybe something like Satyr Firedancer?

Basking rootwalla has madness 0, it's off color but meh.
Also, necrogen mists is probably better than gibbering descent, regardless of the lack of madness. I don't know if it's within your budget, though.

If you want you could run some hand hate in the form of rotting rats, but that's really up to you... Otherwise, cool deck!
