Cool deck! I Think I'm going to make a different build of this! Thanks for the inspiration

Not a huge fan of him. CMC is too high for an alternate deck strategy.
Thanks, though.

Firemaw Kavu

It's got enough potential that he could do something solid, although It'll be tough to build a deck around him.

I do like Murderous cut. It's one of my favorites of this set. But it's sometimes a little tough to use if you're not throwing cards into the graveyard like with sultai. I'll try swapping it out for a few games to see if I like it/ hero's downfall I'll get once the price settles a little. not much of a tourney player.

You are absolutely correct, good sir. that would make my deck T1, but it would also more than double (triple? Dares't I say quadruple?) the price.
Thanks for the input :)

Kind of besides the point, but you could run Blightsteel Colossus instead of Emrakul. Much cheaper (moneywise), plus it has infect. The biggest downside would be the not getting an extra turn. but for 35$ per pop less than Em, it would provide for a budget(er) version of this deck.

alright, fine. I'll give you Spitfire, but Kiln fiend too slow??? Really?

He has the potential to swing for anywhere from 4 to 7 to even 10 damage on turn THREE. (+whatever you're getting from burn spells) If that's too slow for you then Idk what to tell yah.
Yeah, maybe he doesn't have haste. But if you want large amounts of damage in the early game, then he's your guy. I just don't see how he's too slow for this deck/format. Personally, I'd run him over Swiftspear 9 times out of 10 without batting an eye.

You have very little ramp for such expensive creatures.

Also I'm not a huge fan of Elixir of Immortality. It makes your deck more inconsistent. When you shuffle cards back into your deck you're lessening the chances of you getting cards that you need. It's probably better to find something that targets certain cards in the graveyard and returns them to your hand/deck, rather than the entire graveyard.
Elixir would be great if you're up against mill, but otherwise, not so much.

Mind taking a look at my deck?

desecration demon is definitely nice, that's for sure. I just like being able to draw, especially in black.

Painful quandary is definitely too slow to have a playset of, but one or two adds a nice little kick in the pants. It's fantastic when your opponent is in top deck mode, which is really when you'd want to be playing it, anyways.

Dash hopes is unique because it's one of (maybe the only?) monoblack counter spells. and at BB it's pretty worthwhile.
Also it's a good way to take a nice chunk out of your opponent's life if they pay for it. It's like a two mana lava axe :D

Nope. Discard. But it works kind of in a controlling fashion. Especially once you have painful quandary out.

yes, waste not is the engine of this deck. So so so important. I run a modern version of this deck and it is super helpful to get that out 2nd or 3rd turn.

Here's my modern version:

It's been running pretty well, any suggestions of good discard spells?

I like Rotting rats because of the unearth ability and the specters have flying which is good.

I just was afraid that without enough creatures it would get run over by aggro decks before it had the chance to build up and start dealing massive damage.

If you look, there are 17 cards that cause the opponent to discard at least one card, which is pretty solid, if you ask me.

I'd love your input, though.
