Lingering souls and kitchen finks are in the SB
I agree with you on Sidisi, but not on the skeletons as they lose zombie typing which hurts Gravecrawler.Sidisi is a good choice, but as mugekira mentioned above, draw spells might be better. He never mentioned Phyrexian arena, which could be an absolute powerhouse
Might I suggest running something like shambling goblin the sideboard? I think this would help a lot with your weakness to aggro. It can chump block and form an easy two for one or be turned into a kill spell.Alternatively you could try shrivel, bile blight, or drown in sorrow. Finally I suggest Gatekeeper of Malakir over (at least) one Fleshbag Marauder. He pulls a ton of weight, contributes to to devotion x2 and is far more likely to form an effective two-for-one. Admittedly, he doesn't have the benefit of forcing you to sac one as well, but I think, given that grave pact is 4CMC, that's going to be a plus more often than it is a negative. Fleshbag does have zombie typing which is good synergy w/gravecrawler, though.I guess they both have benefits, it's just personal preference.
What do you guys think about adding tasigur's cruelty to the SB? Or even the MB as a one of? It's a solid substitute for wrench mind vs affinity and anything else that has a decent number of artifacts.
no, that's incorrect, you draw an opening hand. this reduces it to X/53 for your first draw.
Alright, fair enough. That's the most definitive argument against fetches in monocolor I've ever seen. You've convinced me!Also, I've updated the list to its most current version, as I'm always fiddling with it in an attempt to create a better deck.
Urborg because polluted delta, polluted delta because deck thinning. Not evolving wilds because it's a slow land. Slow=bad in modernI don't use four shrieking affliction because you don't need it. Seven racks is plenty, with the eighth it comes up too often. It's better to have an extra hand control card than it is to have that eighth rack.
This looks very good for a 20$ deck, however I would suggest cutting the Mandrils for Gurmag Angler (or, if you don't mind dropping an extra dollar or two, Tombstalker). Also Taigam's scheming isn't very good. It's a -1 on card advantage. I think you would be better off running something like Thought Scour, Anticipate, or Dimir Charm, since you're on a budget.
yeah I figured that out right after I asked it.good deck!
Coat of Arms is always fun in tribal
Pretty cool, but why thundermaw hellkite?
Springleaf drum is a good way to tap your disciple without needing to attack/risk it dying.
Tbh I haven't ever played this deck, I'm not sure if it works well.I based it off a jeskai control deck in my meta that finishes with Keranos and Elspeth.I agree about mindswipe. That could have some potential here.I see what you're saying with lightning strike/magma jet. I think you might be right. There isn't all that much that survives a magma jet that wouldn't survive a lightning strike in STD aside from seeker (if prowess) and mantis rider. Both of which are in the jeskai matchup.
You could SB Quicksilver Amulet for the Control Matchup, although you've already got Vexing Shusher. If it hits, since you don't actually cast them, it makes your creatures uncounterable, comes down a turn earlier than Dramatic Entrance, and isn't susceptible to instant only counter spells. The biggest downside would be the fact that it sits on the field for a turn (often) before you get start dropping bombs, but it's reusable for even more bomby good stuff.
Since you're playing predominately white you could maybe add a few radiant fountains. It wouldn't slow down your deck, if you did it right and it would help keep you alive till you can drop your big guys. Your deck isn't exactly fast.Just a thought.
Speaking of: Has a stick up his/her ass...also you may want to consider adding some dismal backwaters, since I'm assuming you don't want to break the bank on this. I know I wouldn't.If you do, you could add a Creeping Tar Pit or some polluted deltas/other dual lands
My thought for it is that you can use it as an instant. When your opponent declares blockers, you can pump up an unblocked creature.
Kessig Wolf Run x1?
My first concern I running four of Dark Deal.Without waste not on the battlefield, it's just a -1 or -2 on card advantage. Despise I (almost) always a 1for 1 and it's cheaper. Also add in Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx at 1xMaybe a copy or two of Whip of Erebos and some draw, such as Read the Bones. If you want to emphasize Waste Not, you should run more creatures like Ravenous RatsLooks like a good start! Good luck!
