Thanks for the input. This is a baseline Esper deck that I've copied and will soon adjust to fit my specific needs. I got this idea from the Primer in MTGSalvation. It's a very good read which explains nearly all of the card choices.

You know, if you replace that one copy of Brainstorm, this would be modern legal.

Hey, I really like your deck description and how you explain the mechanics. One recommendation I have is swapping out City of Brass for Mana Confluence. It just has better protection against tapping shenanigans (and better art).

Don't just sell yourself out, check people's decks because you genuinely want to. Just look at MW2 nuke boosters.

An alternate to Typhoid Rats is Pharika's Chosen. The same B for a 1/1 deathtouch but different art. Just an option.

With devour flesh, the opponent gains life. With consuming vapors, they sacrifice two creatures and YOU gain life.

Usually I would say to get rid of 1-ofs in a deck but since it's random cards, that's okay. I'd say to drop the Bump in the Nights, though. It can only target players and you don't even have red for the flashback. I'd say throw in one of those omni-present doom-blades.

I don't think that Brave the Elements targets your creatures so they won't get the heroic proc...

I think the 5 swamps now is decent. The Shock-lands counts as swamps so that can also be used to tutor for dual-colored lands. +5/+5 or -5/-5 is nothing to scoff at either. Just look at dismember.

One thing I would recommend would be another Elspeth, she's the main form of creature-production with her +1 allowing you to chump block their board.

I agree with this. Currently, the only red cards in the deck are 4x helix. At this point, either decide if you're still Boros or Mono W.

Since there are no green cards, get rid of your Verdant Catacombs. It comes in tapped unless you pay 2 life. Swamps are strictly better here.

The tag for that color combination is RUG. Also, consider lowering the amount of Domris in the deck because of the Legends Rule that basically renders excess copies as dead draws. Personally, I prefer two copies of legendary cards but if they're that essential to the deck, keep them.

Well, if you have the fated infatuations you might as well use Druid's Deliverance in place of Defend the Hearth. Populate your Gatecreeper tokens and tutor for more gates.

Is it really worth running 4 fetch lands and 4 shocklands to pay three life to get out a dual land for three cards? Why not go Mono-B? Also, Urborg is legendary so drawing multiples is bad. They're dead draws.

Some nice cards for this deck would be Geth's Verdict and the great Phyrexian Obliterator. Thaximundar says whenever so they also count. Just some food for thought.

A really nice card for this would be Fated Infatuation. Get tokens of Gatecreeper and populate with Druid's Deliverance.

What's the point of the random 2x or 1x copies of cards like Shock and Hold at Bay. You could just include more fog. You could take out the 2x Clone and replace them with Fated Infatuation. For one less CMC you get a token and scry 2 if it's your turn. Use that on your Gatecreeper to search for more gates. Also, add Druid's Deliverance. It's fog and populate... which you can use on your Gatecreeper Tokens for EVEN MORE gates. Hold ad bay could be replaced by some fog since it's mainly for protecting a key creature (of which you have none [at least once they're on the field]) while the others do damage. Fated Retribution, I feel, has too high a CMC. Sure, the board wipe is nice though and there is only one copy.

Overall, + Fated Infatuations +Druid's Deliverance. More fog. Less of the Gatekeepers. More of a UG Stall Populate. All the 1x and 2x copies don't have much probability and they're not all equally useful unless you just want them for the sake of the cycle.

A cool combo that would fit into the theme is Undying Evil + Vexing Devil. Give it undying when it dies and it will deal 5 damage with your Flayer and an option of another 4 from its passive.

Yes, I like the idea of a hydra. Vastwood Hydra is you have excess mana from Omnath. Rancor to make sure it is not chump blocked. Just redistribute the counters when it dies and swing away with Rancor again. Perhaps Primordial Hydra for the crazy damage. It gains trample at 10 counters on it so that also frees up a Rancor. Another cool green creature to check out is Engulfing Slagwurm. Adding Rancor to it will basically prevent opponents from blocking it and when it blocks, it would deal full trample damage to the attacking player.

If you want to make this deck modern, just switch out the Green Sun's Zenith. If you're looking to get creatures out, Quicksilver Amulet. If you want to stay green, Elvish Piper. However, these methods do not allow you to search for the creature.
