Deck Description

Master Spy Edric is called to save the multiverse again.

The evil mastermind Sakashima has infiltrated the top secret lair of the Shapeshifter's Legion with his army of pint-sized squirrel informants. With the information he has gained Sakashima has planted his spies in the Shapeshifter's top generals, and is influencing their every decision.

Now it is up to Edric to sneak past the best spies of the multiverse, find Sakashima's spy and expose it, before Sakashima can follow through in his master plan, to take control of the Doom Cannon!

Another great general to make a story based deck around. I have always wanted to build a squirrel based EDH deck, but unfortunately the card base is not there. So I just made them a vital plot element in a great shapeshifter story.

How to Play

Ok, this deck plays a little bit oddly. Edric helps keep people from bothering you too much while you get started. Getting squirrels out en masse is the overall goal of playing the deck, but filing to do that, there is a lot options. Copying opponent's power players is helpful, especially now that you can have your own copy of opponent's generals.

Deck discussion for Edric versus the Squirrels

Back in the day there was a 60 card deck called squirrel opposition, look up opposition. Vitalizing wind if you want to go the death by massive squirrel win. A card like collective unconscious can get you massive card advantage if that is what you want. I love seedborn muse, it has potential in any green deck and in this one it could do some serious work. Just a card as simple as overrun would be a great addition to this deck, another possible death by squirrel option. Look up levitation, now death by flying squirrels, lol I crack myself up. And if you want one more way to copy any creature look up vesuvan shapeshifter. If you want to get stupid loose try akroma's memorial.

Haha. man I was playing Squirrel Opposition back in the Urza Block, before Odyssey brought us so many great squirrel cards. It was seriously one of my favorite decks. Back then Blue control was the best thing ever.

I love the flying squirrel / massive squirrel idea, It really fits my story for this deck. I had not considered that avenue, but it would be hilarious. Opposition would be great with seedborn or a card from visions called Sands of Time. You may get a kick out of that one.

That's messed up Jester, I you are correct I do like that card. It might have to find a home in some strange blue/red chaos brew that I might make at some point. I have used Tamiyo and breaking wave together before and that worked out well for me. And I faced off against a squirrel opposition deck in a small tourney in atlanta back in the day, I was playing a deck with fires of yavimaya and other things that I can't remember but I do remember getting the win.

Infinite squirrels with Earthcraft and Squirrel Nest, even though Earthcraft is banned in a couple of formats.

Ha ha, too bad this deck does not have access to red, warstorm surge but infinite squirrels is crazy good as it is. And I just checked it's not banned in EDH.
