Deck Description

The first time I saw Phyrexian Obliterator, I knew I needed to make a deck that revolved around it.....Soo here it is.

All cards are 4 mana or less making this a very fast deck.

Dont mind the sidedeck, i am just considering those cards.

How to Play

Early Game the 12 vampires (Gatekeeper of Malakir, Kalastria Highborn, and Vampire Nighthawk), keep you alive until you can get out Phyrexian Obliterator.
-Kalastria Highborn: Gives you 2 life each time a vampire dies, which you have 12 of.
-Gatekeeper of Malakir: Gets your opponent to sacarfice a creature and can block. Plus it’s a vampire.
-Vampire Nighthawk with flying and lifelink it can generate 2 life per turn, plus deathtouch. Plus it’s a vampire.

Mid Game play Phrexian Obliterator :
-Dimir House Guard, allows you to tutor Phrexian Obliterator for 3 mana. With 4 of these, and 4 Phrexian Obliterator you will consistently get Phrexian Obliterator every game. (you could also add Fleshwrither, but I don’t think it is necessary)
-Dark Ritual allows you to play Phyrexian Obliterator as early as turn 2.
-Reanimate allows you to bring back a destroyed or countered Phyrexian Obliterator to the battlefield. And has some versatility since it can pull from any graveyard.
-Lightning Greaves will give your creatures haste and shroud. Particularly useful for protecting your Phyrexian Obliterator and giving it haste.
-Inquisitor's Flail doubles the threat from Phyrexian Obliterator. If they don’t block your Phyrexian Obliterator it will do 10 damage. If they do block Phyrexian Obliterator then they will have to sacarfice twice as many permanents.

Deck discussion for The Black Obliterator

Every black deck can be improved by adding 4 Phyrexian Obliterator to it.

You're lucky nobody runs Wrack with Madness anymore.

this deck would be great to do a devotion to black. Add a couple gray merchants of asphodel or abberant overlord.

Gray Merchant of Asphodel might be good. At 7 mana a abberant overlord is a little to late game, My guess is I would have won or lost before I would use it.

okay I just noticed your trying to keep the casting cost under 4.

Another choice might be mogis's maurader. gives x creatures intimidate.

Hmmm, I like mogi's maurader, but what should I swap out?

It is ok if a card is more than 4 but it should be really impressive.

umm...I don't usually put 4 copies of a card in a deck. I like a lot of variety.

Have u considered adding recurring nightmare. Its one of the best black e nchantments.

I could swap it for reanimate. do you think it would be better?

I would add one or two for something else. Its the one enchantment that can protect itself. Besides its nice to constantly have a way to get creatures back. It sucks to reanimate something, lose life, and then it gets one shotted back to the graveyard.

But you got a good combo with whip of erebus and reanimate. All your creatures get life link. U will have plenty of life to bring back any of your creatures.

I run into lots of board wipes against player round here. Its just easier to rebuild with recurring nightmare. It really depends on what ur going to face.

Well I guess I will run 2 of each since both are good. Diversity?

Nice call on the Recurring Nightmare, Ebonfyre.

I love obliterators though. Definitely a great card. I run it in a legacy red black reanimator because my goal for that deck is to be too fast...lol. its funny to pop one out turn two when they are so busy trying to seal off your graveyard.....lol

I personally I think it is overpowered and should have never been printed. But it was printed so, I might as well win some games off of it.

I have some friends who play Pithing Needle. But even when they do, Phyrexian Obliterator is still a 5/5 with trample.

I play a lot of legacy and vintage which is home of the seriously overpowered cards....lol

Pithing Needle wouldn't stop the obliterators ability. It isn't an activated ability. There's no Pay Something : Do Something. Its just a When this happens do this

I like what I see, I've been playing for a while now. But have only made a few of My own decks, care to stop by and look at My black deck I recently made? It's big, but I'm having trouble deciding on how to cut it down in size.

You have a good start to a vampire deck, a few too many lands, way too many high mana cards.
