Thanks, glad you like it! This has been one of my favorite decks to play for a while, just for all the synergy.

Nice work! Something along the lines of Assault Formation, turning your defenders into serious threats, might be good to keep you from getting swarmed before your big guns hit the ground. +1

This is fantastic. It'll get ridiculous as long as the Orb hits early on, but I second the comment above. If there's a way you could tutor for the Orb, or at least sift through the deck a bit, it'd make it that much better.

Yeah, I'm definitely considering that. Only issue is it's a tad expensive.

Excellent work here! I can easily see this snowballing into a massivie win. +1

I've been tinkering with an old Izzet deck of mine, and I want to make sure it's as good as it's gonna get before I order cards this time. Think you could take a look?

Research//Development... Oh man, that's awesome. I used to use that trick with Turn//Burn, but R&D takes that to a whole new level. You're right on Lightning Strike, I've got enough burn that can hit creatures that I can probably afford to swap the Strikes for Lava Spikes. Only issue is I'm currently working on a fairly limited budget, so those might have to wait.

Could sometimes better than free, if the color swap enables you to play more spells than you could've without it. Now I need to figure out how many of these I can fit in, and which ones.

I hadn't thought of all the "free" cantrips from New Phyrexia, those could be really handy. I'll pay around with it, see what I like.

Looking good! I'm not sure what options there are for fetchlands in Standard these days, but they can really come in handy with Landfall. Evolving Wilds is one to consider, since it nets you a double Landfall all on its own, no mana needed. Throw Mina and Denn into the mix and then drop, say, Explosive Vegetation on that same turn and things get pretty nuts.

Not sure if it has a place here, and you may have already considered it, but Sword of the Animist is also fun.

Valakut Predator could also add additional punch, you can consistently drop enough lands, but I have no idea where you'd fit it in.

Ooh, good catch! I'm inclined to believe the benefits would outweigh the drawback, especially since Stormchaser gets a toughness boost, making him more survivable. It'd certainly help the deck pick up momentum early on, which is always good. I'll put them in the sideboard for now, and give 'em a go as I can get my hands on a playset. Thanks for the suggestion!

I assume Nin is your Commander? With all those X spells and other high CMC stuff, are you sure you wouldn't rather use Mizzix? That said, if you're sticking with Nin and want to take advantage of her ability, you'll want way more creatures. Her ability is best used on your own creatures, to gain you massive, consistent card advantage. Sure, she can also snipe an opponent's creature in a pinch, but when your Commander is able to hand you massive card draw every turn, you'd better be ready to use it, which only works if you actually have creatures to target.

Creatures like Stuffy Doll or Mogg Maniac are golden here, giving you an outlet for her ability and simultaneously pumping out damage. Psychosis Crawler is another good card here that has potential to just end the game. Ooh, and Sturmgeist. Snapcaster Mage would also be a decent, cheap outlet for the card draw. You're gonna want some unlimited hand size stuff as well. Reliquary Tower should be an auto include, Thought Vessel is awesome, and Venser's Journal is another possibility.

Just some suggestions. Happy deckbuilding!

Nice to see a throwback to Shards of Alara, it was one of the first blocks to come out right after I got into Magic. +1

So, I just put together a budget Heroic deck. You being the master of budget decks and all, I thought I'd consult you. Think you could take a look?

I echo the suggestions above. You need effective ways to stall your opponent out or drop your Dragons earlier in the game. Counters, Dissipation Field, Ghostly Prison, that kind of thing. Some of those are pretty expensive, but you get the idea.

If you can get a bunch of cards into their graveyard and then drop Kolaghan, that should limit them quite a bit, but that doesn't do you any good if you're dead. What you need are effective ways to stall and/or ramp into your Dragons.

Also, maybe Howling Mine and other mutual draw effects? Fill up your own hand while dumping all the cards they get into the graveyard, could help accelerate your mill. If you have limit what your opponent can cast each turn through something like Eidolon of Rhetoric, this could be especially evil.

EDIT: Is there a specific reason you're running Rocky Tarpit rather than Evolving Wilds or Terramporphic Expanse?

Unfortunately, no. I wish I'd built it earlier, it would've been fun to play in Standard. Not to mention it would've much more competitive than it is in Modern.
