i think you should take the splash of blue out for more lifegain cards like sunspring expidition and lightkeeper of emeria. also maybe some journey to nowheres to get rid of some unwanteds..

maybe throw in steely resolve and grant shamans (elvish piper and fauna shaman) protection so that this combo works more securely.

i suggest canopy cover for cheap protection on the piper.plus it can be an awesome mid-late game finisher on a big guy.
guul draz specter and nyxathid are nice creature additions too. maybe throw in a splash of red for burning inquiry if you decide to use caress, and also slavering nulls, ravenous rats, blightning, mire's toll, and many others that are T2 legal. just some ideas for more ways to win if someone throws down enchant removal.
I hear ya bro! i actually liked the +1/-1 thumbs thing better because one person couldn't dramatically alter the rating of a deck that many thought were awesome...

serra angel could be replaces with something else. maybe conundrum sphinx for a combo with the other sphinx u have, or sphinx of magosi as a finisher/card draw. i might also kick the 2 mantra's for a couple of last kiss, or rest for the weary, because there are some many enchant removal's that if you really want life gain, a simple spell would be more efficient.
the time warp version has, but as for this one, im not sure how it would do.

i think blightning is pretty good but the borderposts are there as multi-colored perms. to grant grimblade his ability.

i agree. maybe even cut a couple plains (since its a mono color deck 22 lands should be sufficient) and a pledge to add 3 brave the elements to really wound your opponent.
maybe also find a place to stick in a voracious dragon or 2.
i would take out a siege-gang and a dragon fodder or 2 to add claws of valkut. great with mono goblins.
combust for sideboard to clear out baneslayers and such. also ricochet trap to stop ice cage and such. goblin ruinblasters to stop valakut decks. and unstable footing to stop fogs.
