Deck discussion for Sheoldred, Graveyard Mistress

Myriad Landscape is a great way to get some swamp ramp for your doublers, as is Wayfarer's Bauble. Expedition Map will fetch you Cabal Coffers. Thespian's Stage and Vesuva make great Coffer copiers, too.

Okay cool, thank you for the suggestions! What about the creature base, is there anything you would suggest for me to add? :3

Your average casting cost of your dudes is pretty high. It's kind of tough to build a curve in EDH since 100 cards make it hard to hit a turn-1 one-drop, but IMO you should still have some lower cost stuff just so you don't have to tap out each turn just to cast one spell. Myself I'd pull Kozilek and Ulamog; they have a huge cost, you can't give them haste so they'e got one full turn for someone to remove them, and they can't be reanimated by Sheoldred.

Gatekeeper of Malakir is a good low-cost drop, as is Bloodghast, Gravecrawler, and Vampire Nighthawk.

Honestly that's what the early ramp is for, I've found that early creatures just don't do much so I'd prefer to put more mana rocks in my deck than put creatures in my deck that get outclassed quickly.

It's crazy what mono black can ramp like. It's not unheard of to be tapping ten on turn five under not too special circumstances.

That's one of the reason's I was drawn to mono black as opposed to any of the other mono colored decks, and I just like the idea of not playing blue right now, since all I play these days is green blue decks in edh... XD

The thing is, this deck really doesn't have that much ramp. There's three mana doublers, a few rocks, one land tutor, and Coffers and ways to copy it. It has less ramp at a much higher curve than my fairly casual mono-black vampires deck, and that deck gets outraced fairly regularly in a meta that really isn't that cutthroat.

I mean, sure you're going to have games where you T1 Sol Ring, Mind Stone, T2 Thran Dynamo, T3 Kozilek or whatever, but how often does that happen? Unless you're playing with people who don't remove anything (which you may be since you're packing no targeted removal yourself) then I don't see how you're going to outplay anything slightly more tuned than a precon.

That said, every meta is different, and maybe in yours this particular setup is what works. I run almost no non-exile removal in my decks because of the sheer number of indestructible creatures I see in games, and that probably looks nuts to anyone in a meta where that isn't a problem, so to each his own.

Honestly I am not even close to building this right now, I just wanted to set this up so I could eventually build it. My meta is not cutthroat at all, but I have a friend who runs a similar Erebos deck and even against my competitive EDH decks (Tasigur, Alesha, both in my decks list) can give me a run for my money and often win because of how much mana it produces. Any suggestions on ways I can improve the list?

It's interesting to see how other people approach deckbuilding with the same general. Monoblack reanimation is such a powerful strategy. How competitive is your local scene? One big problem I had with my deck was dealing with answers - other people's answers to my threats. Black can't counter like blue can, but it's king of the hill in hand and deck removal. One for one gems like Thoughtseize aren't much use in Commander, but I've grown to love cards like Head Games and Sadistic Sacrament. Also, Myojin of Night's Reach... Here's how I approached building Sheoldred: http://www.mtgvault.com/baroncappuccino/decks/pain-without-love/ You'll see that great minds think alike, sharing a lot of key cards. Mine's been a work in progress since the Commander 14's came out. I'd just bought the black one and went to town with it. Maybe there are some ideas you can use.
