Deck Description

BEFORE YOU READ ANYTHING ELSE NOTICE: THIS DECK IS MEANT FOR MULTIPLAYER OF AT LEAST 4 PEOPLE YOURSELF INCLUDED.

So this is my first attempt at a group hug deck but decided to not go for bant and instead for bug or I guess sultai (im still gonna call it bug) to have access to black and a tiny bit of removal and tutoring.

So why is this a semi group hug deck?
- Because the deck does actually plan on winning by itself as well, I have an unbeleiveably high ammount of enemy card draw in there so milling can end up being a problem for the enemy and I have a mindgrind / shared trauma to finish the job.

Group hug elements:
- High ammounts of shared card draw
-Shared basic land ramp (hey its not my fault if I ask all to find 8 basics and ppl only have 3)

The other stuff:
Self defense: most of the time when I see a group hug deck it does it's thing then someone kills it off when it's no longer needed so I've implimented a few safety features for the sake of my own survival - which all revolves around making it as unappealing as possible to attack me instead of someone else.

cards worth mentioning:

Edric, spymaster - rewards the enemy for attacking each other

No mercy - kills off creatures who attack me

Riddlekeeper - mills opponents for attacking me

The emergency cards : for when people still attack me

-aetherspouts and aetherize punishes the player attacking me and saves me without making enemies out of the rest of the table since their creatures are left untouched.

-illusionist's gambit - foces an attack to go elsewhere - in case of a big attack like an insurrection.

xathrid gorgon - a strong blocker herself and she can turn big scary creatures like ulamog or kozilek into defenders. I've found that this is a must when you provide your opponents with massive mana ramp and even creature tutoring.

Milling:

Mesmeric orb - probably the most powerful mill card in multiplayer edh but it kinda slows down the game, dont play this unless you're ready to put a target on yourself so do it late when they're running out of cards.

Keening stone - mostly a finisher for when an opponent is putting too much preasure on me.

mindcrank/ memory erosion/ jace's erasure - just a bit of extra passive mill

Mindgrind/shared trauma - these are yet again for finishing the opponent and with cards upwelling and heartbeat of spring the numbers can rise pretty quiickly.

Graveyard hate:
deathrite shaman/ Scavenging ooze/ relic of progenitus are for removing eldrazi's and other things that shuffles the opponent's graveyard back into their libraries.

Chaos: The best thing about multiplayer games are the completely ridiculus things you can make happend with a bit of extra cards and mana so ive put a few things here to help things along:

hypergenesis - this really doesnt need an explaination

the tempt cards - for seeing just how greedy your opponents are

upwelling - mana pools doesnt empty at the end of turns

As a final note i'd like to point out that this is not a competetive deck and was never designed as one, this is more for a casual game with 3-5 friends for enabling crazy plays and having fun I just so happends to hate not having a win con since it makes the deck feel meaningless.

I have a kaalia deck for the competetive matches and this deck is for fun - and isnt that what it all comes down to in the end? Just having a good time :)

How to Play

So how do you play this mess of random cards?

The early turns are for establishing yourself as everybody's friend, dont play the annoying cards early like mindcrank or mesmeric orb because they will draw hatred to you.

The mid game is usualy when the group hug deck takes a beating because they can't defend themselves and they've provided enough usefulness, my best advice here so to make urself an unappealing target for attacks with cards like edric or no mercy.

The late game is when people are starting to realize all this card draw is starting to thin their decks and this is your chance to start playing forced fruition, keening stone, mesmeric orb, mindcrank and shared trauma.

The thing to notice about mindgrind is there's no going back after dropping it, people will focus you if you put them close to milled out with it so do not cast it unless u're sure you can mill out at least one person.

I've been up against this irl and all I can say is; art. Cruel, bloody, wonderful, coherent, messy art. It does it all, plays the player rather than the game, dominates the board and cheers when opponent makes a mistake, cheers louder when opponent makes a good call.

Its evil incarnate for 250~ bucks

But as stated, it needs a smaller crowd to succeed, but that's also the beauty of it.

And beware the Mesmeric Orb T2 - T3, it will make you an early target

Well done, man. +1
