Deck Description

This is a nasty one with many interlocking combos. Tried to keep it both simply/straight forward and budget-ish.

MAIN COMBO is Reap with Deathlace/Apothic Wisps/Darkest Hour. Once you have 2 Reaps (one in hand and one in the grave) you have an infinite Regrowth engine: Reap gets back the other Reap and Deathlace, then you can turn another permanent black and when you cast the next Reap, you'll get yet another card back.

Lotus Petals and Dark Rituals fuel the combo, at one point you can run the combo for free: You need 1GB each cycle, so one Dark Ritual and one Petal is enough to keep going, once you got a second Petal or Ritual you make +1 mana each time! If you have Spothic Wisp instead of Deathlace, you also draw a card each cycle. However, you might run out of targets if you use Whisps.
This is the main reason why I made this deck Legacy: To be able to run 4 Lotus Petals! However, this means I cannot run Regrowth and Demonic Tutor.

Tendrils of Agony is the KILL CARD, obviously.

OTHER COMBOS:
* Darkest Hour + Light of Day:
I run Darkest Hour mainly to generate more black permanents for Reap, however, why not get more out of it? Enter Light of Day ... oops, nobody can attack anymore :)

* Darkest Hour/Lace/Whisp + Whirling Dervish/Nantuko Blightcutter:
It's always nice to have some early blockers and to have an alternative path to victory if, for some reason, your main trick doesn't work. In this case, if you fail to archive a combo win, you can still crush your opponents with huge unblockable Blightcutters or evergrowing Dervishes. Both are nice blockers as well.

* Light of Day + Sleeper Agent:
I so much wanted to include this as well but ran out of deckspace JUST when I was finished with everything else. Put them in the side for now.

How to Play

See above. Things to keep in mind:
* Deathlace can turn anything black, including lands, artifacts and planeswalkers.
* Aphotic Whisps cantrips, so use it to draw into the combo if needed.
* Diabolic Tutor should always be used to fetch Reap unless you have already 2 or more
* Don't be afraid to play a non-lethal Tendrils if you need the life.

Deck discussion for ReapLacement Killers

I made this budget-ish on purpose in the hope to get more replies. If I was to build this deck just for me, I would apply a better mana base.

Also, I am not sure if having 4 Lotus Petal is worth the trouble keeping this Legacy Legal. If I would abandon 3 Lotus Petals, I could add Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor and Regrowth once each.

I love me some Lotus Petal...overall, it is my favorite card in Mtg.
I recently bought a playset of them, this year.
However, you are probably right about taking 3 out for the above mentioned cards. But as you stated yourself...it will sorta devalue the combos.

This is very combo of you!
Are you feeling okay, friend?!
First I look at a deck you just built and it has mostly playsets of cards AND NOW this combo deck?!

You will definitely make some enemies playing Tendrils of Agony...some would even argue that Tendrils of Agony is the worst Mtg card ever made, lol.

Ever since I got a Sleeper Agent, from a booster pack back in the day, I have wanted to use her.
Nice catch with Light of Day!

Nice deck. I'm thinking Honorable Scout or Starlight may have a spot in here. As well when it becomes released in Origins I would switch the diabolic tutors for Dark Petition. As well Regrowth could be a 4 of. (no longer banned or restricted.)

Yeah, but what to take out? I don't even have enough place to put those Sleeper Agents in there.

I would have to say Aphotic Wisps would be the first to get cut. I will add that it's hard for me to make cuts on a deck that is already very well built without test playing it in a few different ways a few dozen times.
If you happen to have time, I'm trying to make my mill deck Modern competitive. I know I know... MILL. LOL

Just seeing this now, I wasn't active back then.
So, what did you talk about then?

Reap lace the deck type :)
Seems my phone "corrected" the word back then.

Yeah, I got that, given this is my ReapLace deck ... but I thought there was something particular or why did you write that message?

No hidden meanings. It was a comment and an upvote at a time I used decksearch to find some reap lace designs.
I do that when I randomly stumble on the work of people I know.
Nothing more than that.

Yeah, about that - sometimes you commented on my decks and tried to squeeze in random mill cards even though the deck doesn't mill at all. But the one deck I have that DOES mill never got a comment of yours. That was always odd for me.

If I've suggested a mill card in a non-mill deck then it's probably 4 copies of stream of thought...
And I'll suggest exactly that card for your groupplay mill deck.

A long time ago I wrote quite the manual on that card.

Search for a deckname but write the cardname into the search to get the entire manual.

During 2021 I've been exceptionally busy like "everyone else" so I might not have seen it.

I was probably involved in my rw prison project, decktag: wdm prison or some odd eldrazi ramp decks.

Most of all I've been busy figuring out how to tie the community together wether or not any trolls exist.
