Deck Description

This is my personal Mono black EDH deck that I carry around with me to events and at my locals just for casual fun. There really isn't a theme here other than useful black cards and appropriate support. Chainer, Dementia Master is the main general of the deck, and he is swapped out for Maga, Traitor to Mortals and Korlash, Heir to Blackblade depending on my mood. But for the most part Chainer is the main general and overall MVP of the deck.

How to Play

This list has a ton of quirky interactions that are just not commonly seen in most black decks in constructed play. I balanced it around a black ramp theme that usually generates tons of mana using cards like: Doubling Cube, Nykthos, Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, Nirkana Revenant, Caged Sun, and etc. cards that work well with the synergy. Basic idea of the deck is to generate advantage with kill spells and sweepers and then tutor up diabolic revelation when enough mana can be generated for it to search out combo pieces. There is an answer in the deck for just about anything that isn't an auto-win. Cards I have thought about playing would be Perilous Vault, Oblivion Stone and All is Dust. These cards specifically are 'colorless' sweepers that get around things like Iona, Shield of Emeria and things like Drought which severely cripple mono-black. There are colorless outs to Iona in the main deck, such as Karn, Duplicant, and Ulamog but there is an even smaller way to deal with game hindering enchantments like Drought. (dealing with Enchantments is black's literal greatest weakness) The deck in its current edition plays the sanguine/exquisite blood combo. It is a pretty basic win-condition and really has 0 player connection. Ramping mana and then tutoring the win isn't really something I usually go for unless the game just needs to end on the spot. The deck used to play Phage, the Untouchable (Lightning Greaves plus Shizo, Death's Storehouse on Phage is a hilarious win-condition) However I eventually cut Phage because she isn't reliable enough. If she is flickered by an opponents card effect I would lose the game, so she was cut. She is definitely a fun card, but it wasn't something I decided to play consistently. Another win-condition that used to be in the deck was Sorin's Vengeance, that card paired with Sorin is an automatic victory against a single opponent. Sorin Markov's -3 drops a player to 10 life and then Sorin's Vengeance does 10 points of damage to that player. It was definitely a flavorful win-con and I have considered putting it back into the deck, but I opted to take it out because it wasn't a super good value card on its own. Also, cards like Contamination and Eternal Darkness are alsmost an instantaneous win if another player doesn't have sources to generate their colors of mana I.E. Mana Artifacts or another black player. Althought these cards are kind of cheap it is almost necessary against other commander decks that try to go off in a few turns. Chainer, Dementia Master is my commander, though there really isn't a whole lot synergy with him. Duplicant and Grave Titan is pretty obvious, and really any other ETB effects, he is also there to regain value from another's grave, maybe to interrupt grave-based strategies or pull big monsters from my grave back into play. He is also very useful when Contamination is in play so there is an never-ending sac-outlet for Contamination. All-in-all I would have to say that this is the basis of the deck, if there are any questions just feel free to comment and I will try and answer back.
