Deck Description

Thanks for clicking on the clickbait ;)

*** DISCLAIMER ***
This list is for a NO BAN modern event. I am aware that several of the cards are banned in modern.

That being said, I would appreciate input, advice, and thoughts. Thanks!

How to Play

The goal of the deck is to combo with orcale/spoils/grace on turn 3 (possibly turn 2) pretty reliably. Pretty similarly to the modern Ad Nauseum deck.

Game one is likely to be who can kill who first. Game two is more dependant on their sideboard.

Deck discussion for Turn 2 win?!?

If it's no ban put in some form of land destruction in the sideboard for Eldrazi

He has that covered with the 4 leyline of sanctity (sideboard).
Eldrazi won't be a danger when thought-knot seer can't exile from his hand.

I wasn't talking about thought-knot seer, I was talking about the slightly more consistent turn 2 win, as well as the fact that it's not a combo deck that can be easily screwed up.

What eldrazi deck does that ?

The old Eldrazi aggro deck from 2016, it's why eye of Ugin was banned. Also I relooked at it and it didn't get t2 kills as often as this deck will, but the thing is it's not combo so the damage stacks unlike this deck. There a couple of versions of it. But look up Eldrazi aggro 2016 and it should come up.

Didn't find it, but tried "eldrazi aggro 2016 turn 2" and then found it.
3 mimics and a smasher. Fun stuff :)
I'm testing against shoal reanimator, and simian spirit guide was part of that too.
Gonna miss that ape a lot...

So idk if you guys are interested in hearing the match results, but if you are: here you go.

both of my first two matchups were against dark depths deks (the only ones there too :'( ). It feels kinda like playing against a really fast jund deck with regular ad naus.... basically unwinnable. the discard just kinda fucks the deck over, and having to use angel's grace to live the marit lage just feels bad.

my game three was against a regular modern control deck which just kinda shit on me.

that being said, the deck as the list above feels pretty awful tbh. You spend a LOT more time looking for your combo, and then once you get it, it feels like you need more mana than usual. The deck almost never threatens a kill until about turn 6ish. Which in no-ban world is faaaaaaar too slow. I may try to play a different version of ad naus next time around, based more on the pre-ssg ban list next time, but we shall see.

but thanks for the input guys :)

How were the second games against the dark depths ?
As far as I know the goal (against discard) would be to board in all 4 leyline of the void, then mulligan till you get one. Were you just really unlucky at that ?

Mental Misstep would also do something unless they play it too.

Anyways, I've always suspected that all the real good turn 1 kills that adnaus have are due to cheating.
I've never performed one during tests and some players seem to just go turn 1 with it all the time...

Second games were just as bad as the first tbh. I would bring in all 4 Leylines (sanctity, not void) and i forgot to mention, but i actually moved 2 of the missteps mainboard before the tourney in playtesting. but i would also bring in the third copy. Even if i did land the sanctity, they would usually bring in Force of Nature and Chalice of the Void. It felt pretty unwinnable. My friend brought the deck, and we play tested pretty much all day before the tournament. In all of 50ish games we played, I maybe won 4 or 5. mostly due to luck.

Heh, auto correct is toying with the both of us :) I guess I talk more about void than sanctity :) in your case I guess you meant force of will, rather than force of nature :)

Do you think you could tweak the deck past dark Depths?
Maybe they won't show next time. Unless they got in the top.
What did go top?

Were there any Eldrazi decks? And like Wickeddarkman said, what were the top 3 or so decks?

So not auto correct, im just an idiot XD but not force of will. its force of vigor. the green enchantment destruction spell.

And im not entirely sure. Off the top of my head one of the dark depths decks took first, and then i think there were some splinter twin decks, and some oko decks. Ill see if i can contact the guy who runs it and see if he still has the standings.

And off the top of my head i dont think there were any eldrazi decks alfred. unfortunately.

I don't care about an event that I didn't participate, but every time I do a no ban event I get smoked by eldrazi

Have any of you seen dragons approach ?
2R deal 3 dam (or was it 4?)
Exile *this* and 4 other dragons approach, fetch a dragon from your deck and put it into play.
You may 0lay any number of this card in your deck.

It's a new take on those bizarre surgical extraction decks.

This is probably the real reason why simian spirit guide was taken out...

I gernerally run storm, the other things that stood out were I played a birthing pod deck once and came 3rd and played a completely legal esper control deck and managed to sneak in a win.
