I am wondering still. I guess I am just confused because our FNM is T2 format most of the time and over 50% of the matches end by turn 5 and 90% before turn 7. It just seems like relying on assemble would be a bad bet for me in my local area.

Yeah it would but I can't decide what to take out for it....I may have to break down and get rid of the Dragon's Claws..... : \

Has any tried this at a FNM? I love the concept but I am worried that it would be too slow for me. At our local FNM matches rarely last more then 7 turns and this deck has no RAMP and seems like it would just be getting started at around turn 7. Would like some feedback on this please.

Yeah, I knew it was wrong and was laughing at him calling it that but I was so focused on it that it got stuck in my head and then I typed it. There is Karma for you I guess..... : \

I think I fixed that well before you posted this lol. I did it because him calling it "skullcrank" got stuck in my head.

well, not many but honestly the way I have been running this deck I find little use for the Shocks, electrickery and rapid hybridization anyways so it clears up some space in my SB and as we all know the SB is used to adapt to certain decks and situations so a few skull cracks could save your butt against that ONE guy that has to be a dillhole and run Fog.

I actually do like that card....I think I will replace the extra Dragon's Claws in the sideboard with it.

Added some of your suggestions...some I left out because they are not legal in Extended and then Instigator would put me WAY past the term "budget".

I said previously taking out the colors on your left and right...that is another format we play. Star you take out your enemy colors. Thank you Pyrothos for correcting me.

you are? They last forever though in tournament play at our local store I think my shortest match ever was an hour and I had maybe 20 cards left tops. Usually we run down to the bottom 7 it gets pretty chaotic.

EDIT: Oh I see what I did to make you post that...lol will edit it.

Sadly I disagree with part of your assessment because I won an FNM the first time I played it there. People are not expecting it, they let the electromancer and cyclops walk. The issue is you only get the big combo out in 25% of the games. Usually I end up countering them to death until Gutterspine dwindles them down. I also added a Jace and 2xCounterflux to the main deck and an aetherling to the SB.(took out the shocks and placed them in the SB)

Some good ideas...and I will have to look through them when I get home. However the reason why the dragon claws are good in my opinion is that it is a STAR dec and if you are not familiar with the Star format it is a VERY long game with five people (all mono color decks) sitting in the order of the magic color wheel trying to take out the person on their direct left and right. The games tend to last 2-3 hours from my experience and you are usually through 3/4 of your deck by the end. Some life is definitly worth looking into because that "20" starting health will not last you very long if the guy on your left and right gang up on you. The specific cards you mentioned I will have to look at when I get home, I bet you have some great ideas in there.

I run a similar deck in Local tournaments(the same as memnite's on here) and I took the shocks out and I would do the same with these lightning bolts. They are boring and ultimately unless I get them on turn 1 get countered 70% of the time. I replaced the 3 shocks and would replace these lightning bolts with 1x Jace and 2x counterflux. Also you should put an extra Jace Memory adept and an aetherling into your sideboard, they really help against control.

Ok, so you say if we wan't to play this deck at full potential we need to add at least 1 Jace or Aetherling or one of each and 2 counterfluxes? Also what would you take out for these?

Good deck concept, Mine has a similar concept but is designed for speed and not as cheap as yours. Anyways +1

EDIT: Might consider varolz at least in the sideboard.

Only going to say 1 thing.....you did very well with this deck. 5 color decks first off are hard to make(especially effective ones) even with slivers. With this deck you seem to have done that AND managed to make it on a decent budget. When I noticed you can make this deck for under $100 I was shocked honestly. Good job.
