Deck discussion for Feasting off the Remains

OMFG, this is badass. I want this f'n deck man. This could be GG VERY quickly. I do have 2 suggestions for ya' that I think you might like for this. What if you were to put in a couple Minion Reflector's & Doubling Seasons? The Minion Reflector for 2 mana could easily be paid for w/ Birds & other lands to create a copy token of the creatures & make them instantly put 2x or 3x the amount of cards from abilities into graveyard, then the Doubling Season to multiply the shit out of Vulturous Zombie's counters = +25/+25 or +38x/+38x. Omg that would be sick dude. You gotta' work that combo in bro.

BTW, 10 stars for this sick mofo, gratz!

The doubling Season is a great idea, too bad they are tied up in my Saproling Horde deck, ha ha. Maybe i'll side board them.

If you do, not that you would need it w/ this deck, but some Counter-based equipments would be a sick overkill buff, but also might slow ya' down on card draws. But stuff like Umezawas Jitte, Banshee's Blade & Sigil of Distinction just to rape Doubling Season for what it's worth, lol.

This is a really good idea! I like the combos, however there are a few holes. Sadistic Sacrament is alittle iffy because of the fact that it exiles i feel like you could run maelstrom pulse or some other type of removal that could potentionally get your creatures big, and not to mention you can't just rely on Nemesis of Reason! All in all its really cool! i might try it!

Sadistic Sacrament is there to exile thing in case they have graveyard control of any kind, Emrakul or any other Legendary Eldrazi shuffles their graveyard back into their deck. Plus Quest for Anceint Secrets shuffles the graveyard back in. I love Sadistic Sacrament and it's highly under rated.

I agree with mario chalmers here. I would run sadistic sacrament in the sideboard and play mind funeral instead.

Another thought for this one, just to go w/ theme on the name. I'm surprised "Feast of the Unicorn" isn't in this one, lol.

How do you defend against aggro decks, my mill should deck an oppenent by 4th turn and I've got counter to deal with anything you'd play early

The deck is mostly for multiplayer... Aggro decks don't do so well in that format. Unless maybe Archenemy.

No offence but i don't think this is a very viable deck, don't get me wrong it just seems that its very hard to deal with the fact that the cards the deck is based around are all 5 drops soo, what turn 7 before your even attacking for lethal which is why i suggest adding more birds of paradise. or why not just make the deck strait up green and add stuff that taps your mana for multiple colors. i remember this one enchantment out of shadowmoor that would work sufficiently it let you tap your mana for any color. more birds of paradise, you could go about it that way or you could go mostly green with a splash of black and blue and run farseek and stuff like that, but all i can say about this deck is i don't think its fast enough in its current state being that theres only 2 birds as well as a few rampant growth's another way you could go about it is by running stall like counterspells and stuff, because if you can stall long enough and run enough creature destruction to keep yourself alive and run some fetch cards like diabolic tutor it would help another thing i suggest is Run some tri lands or something you have the fetch lands. but another question is if you do have this deck IRL how do the dual lands/Fetch lands treat you i'm just curious. but anyway, way i see it most of the time you'll get the cards you need but not the cards to combo off of and stuff. but yea keep this comment in mind. anyway i'm not saying its a bad deck i just don't think its fast enough.

I agree the deck is pretty damn slow... but I used it for multiplayer free-for-all games and this deck works just fine for that.

I would take out Cathartic Adept for Hedron Crab, with all the fetches it will kick ass.

I made this at the time Alara was booming and Zendikar wasn't out yet, but yes, Hedron Crab would be ten times better than Cathartic Adept for this deck.

It worked well back when I made it nearly two years ago and it won a fair amount of multiplayer games. I would not recommend it for one-on-one though, but for casual. Fuck yeah!

First off, fantastic combo.

Ok, I believe this deck should be designed to win with damage, not mill. that said, all the "mill spells" you have should become counterspells and killspells to control your opponent until you can play the big creatures, cause once you do that its GG. So, Nemesis with Lord o E and Vutlure Zombie man will be the win condition of this deck, so milling shouldnt be the main focus. Ok? Still though, sweet combo, kindof upset with myself for not having already thought of it.

You're right, I should have focused more on damage and less on mill. Perhaps I should use green to ramp into mana faster and still manage to feed the Vultrous Zombie with the mana ramp.

this deck needs mind funeral. I have a deck similar to this that makes the opponent lost two life everytime a card is put into the graveyard and i gain 2 life... http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=351503

Mind funeral is an awesome card for a deck like this. Also, perplex is a good one because it counter's target spell unless they discard their hand. Dimir doppelganger copies any creature in any graveyard which could also be a great play here. I really like this deck, It's similar to mine haha.

Would you mind checking out my blue/green ramp deck? I'm tryin to get it ready for tournament play.

Sorry I didn't get back faster, I just realized this was on the front page. I will take a look at your deck in a bit, hopefully you haven't already played your tournament and if you have I hope you did well.

And yes, mind funeral would be fun for this deck, but I'm leaning towards what raginggoblin said and it should probably focus more on damage.

vulturous zombie is such a badass. Two glimpses in your hand equals attacking for lethal turn six with one creature and your opponent full health.

Cathartic Adept is not that effective take out two of them for 2 more Birds of Paradise and another 2 for Llanowar Elves.

0
Posted 06 July 2012 at 03:19

Yeah, Cathartic Adept was the only decent 1 drop back when I made this for a mill card. With Hedron Crab out now and all the new support for mill, I could use tons of different cards besides Cathartic Adept. Llanowar Elves is one of my favorite green cards ever, but in a 3 color deck, not so much. Birds of Paradise I could see using more of, but I might just redo this deck anyway.

Considering I made this deck two years ago and haven't logged on in a while to look at this stuff I was shocked to see this on the front page. The Vultrous Zombie/Nemesis Combo or with Lord of extinction was something I came up with out of no where and this deck was more for a casual multi-player game. It did well and won the majority of the time. Maybe i should remake it an tweak it some... Thanks to everyone who has commented on it!

I'd agree with ragingoblin as well. i think you should ditch the mill spells and for sure grab 2 more birds. you could replace the mills with control. that should keep you alive until your heavy hitters come out and then be able to protect them. after game 1 they know they're gonna have to get NoR out asap. so you'll need to be able to protect that. you could use mana leak and dissapates for counter and then add a few card draw. Thought scour would be perfect! mill and draw in 1 card. couldnt get any better for this deck.

so maybe something like this:

-2 Sadistic Sacrament
-4 tomb scour
-2 Psychic Drain
-4 Glimpse the Unthinkable
-4 Cathartic Adept

+ 2 birds of paridise
+ 4 mana leak
+ 2 dissapate
+ 4 thought scour
+ 4 fog bank

hope that helps! and if yourself or anyone else could take a look at my W/r Humans that would be much appreciated!
