Yeah, the deck is slow and your right, if something happens to Heartless Summoning the deck goes downhill. How would you improve this deck?

They work. They have saved me a few times. I have them in a flying/spirit deck(http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=372583) as well as in a few others.They put up some pressure early game and that boost might just be what determines the outcome of a match/game.

Could my teammate sac their creature to buff up one of mine (like with bloodthrone vampire)?

Hey dude. Congrats on 100 great decks. In 2HG, can you sacrifice your teammates creature(s) (like with bloodthrone vampire)?

There are other cards that use mana for boost that are standard. Moonveil Dragon, Dragon Hatchling, Flameblast Dragon, and Furnace Whelp are a few that I know of.
