Hmm ... perhaps this is because individuals who are dedicated to creating tournament level decks are more interested in studying the decks that have won at past tournaments, not the decks of fellow magic players, and tend to avoid this site. I would wager that far more of the players here are interested in casual, kitchen-table decks. Like this. In fact, I would wager since that the average age of a MTG player is around 13, a majority of players in general are primarily casual, with a hint of Friday Night Magic thrown in now and then.

There's more to life (or the lack of a life that comes from too much cardboard crack :) ) than winning tournaments. Otherwise we would only see like ... 4 or 5 tired, worn-out deck themes ... with the same tired, worn-out cards ... yup, I don't see how THAT could get old. What do you think Puschkin. Jessie, Northy, Sorin, whomever?

Even competitive players love to sit back and enjoy a casual game now and then. And I bet they don't want to play the same decks they play or face in tournaments. That would, again, get old.

That's just a theory.

This rant having been concluded, I would be happy to take a look at your tournament level decks. While I don't make many myself, making casual decks has given me quite a breadth of knowledge of Magic, and I would only be too happy to share. Though honestly, Puschkin or Sorin could probably tell you more. I'm more of a rules guy.

Now, I like playing creatures. So this deck is pretty much the plague incarnate for me.

I still think dimir doppelgänger would be pretty damn funny. But I digress, this is not that sort of deck.

Good job, as always, Northy.

Great early aggro deck. Now ... how bout you drop that wimpy Krenko's command for some ... COLOSSAL MIGHT!

... or psychotic strike. I'm not picky.

Seriously, though, you have to love what g/r aggro can do.

Any way ..... northy, I have a problem. I'm stuck making budget decks, even when I don't want to. Please help me!

Oh ... and the paragon is pretty insane with the Marauders and Setessan Tactics, as well.

She's probably my favorite creature buff - handing out tribal TOKENS (not exactly easy to find, outside of vampires) and functioning like a miniature crowned ceratok. Oh, and she's an elf. And half of all freaking warrior cards are elves. Oh, and as I said ... here trample buff is relevant wherever there are tokens - Simic, Vampires, Herioc - you name it. And on pretty 2/2 elf body. AND splashable.

She's just ... SO well designed. She is a solid tribal card (in 2 tribes, might I add) and still can find a place in so many decks. The only card that comes close (off the top of my head, I am sure there are others) is Hero of Bladehold.

And you know WHAT? Wizards noticed that Magic players really liked the mechanic she shares with crowned ceratok and other simic beasties. And they made some badass cards like Azban Battle-Priest. Then they freaking IMPROVED on the mechanic by adding outlast - for a measly price of some mana, one can put a counter on the creature itself, by itself severely overcosted and uncool ... except the card now gains the same buff it was spewing all over the place. Magic players, beware: a new solid mechanic has emerged. And it might give dredge a run for it's money.

You'll have to check out the forum I'm afraid. The creator of the format allowed the lowest rarity rating to be used for cards, specifically the 5 original Planeswalkers. So, the Pauper way of treating rarity.

However, this new format allows cards of all rarities to be used (except mythic rates). The main reason for the rule in pauper is that that particular format needs as many freaking cards as possible. In other words, the format creator is merely going with convention, not necessarily what is best for this new and hopefully improved format.

It has been suggested, not just by you, that the most RECENT rarity rating be used, not the lowest. This approach relies on the assumption that Wizards has realized one of their many mistakes and is trying to make up for it. Because the vast majority of the time they have no idea what the h they are doing when assigning rarity to cards. Just saying.

Muhahahaha .... a new and improved version of da fury-shield. I approve. This card is quite possibly the biggest screw-you to infect players I have seen. Now to take it out to the proving grounds.

P.S. Now I am truly torn. Imprint Boros Charm, Lightning Helix, or Deflecting Palm on Isocron Scepter. Decisions, decisions.

Nonsense. Simic Hydras can induce hair-pulling in all formats.

Hehehe ... fuel for the cause is awesome, but for some reason no one wants to play against my Simic hydras backed up with proliferate. In all seriousness, running Tezzeret's Gambit and Fuel for the Cause would relegate this deck to .... tournament play, really. No joke.

I appreciate your wit good sir. Happy deck building, and may the forest be with you.

Same thing goes for Knight of the Holy Nimbus and a pithing needle. In fact, that's even worse. And if Fiendslayer Paladin and Silver Knight come along ....

You just can't kill people like you used to.
