I began by throwing cards together to make a hand/creature control skullbriar deck for EDH tournaments. I then looked around on the interwebs and pulled ideas from various other Skullbriar EDH decks to come up with this. I don't exactly have all of these cards (since I don't exactly have the largest wallet) but I felt like building a decent non-budget deck. Using a few cards to replace the more expensive ones (esp lands), I assembled this deck and do fairly well in 1v1 EDH. Enjoy. I'm considering cutting Primal Command, Oppression, Acidic Slime, Raven's Crime, Wrench Mind, plow under, and 2 lands for Dark Tutelage, Vampiric Tutor, Life from the Loam, and 4 more disruption/land destruction spells. I'm also considering creekwood liege. Preferably, I'd run disruption over tutors and card advantage, but if my general gets bounced, I'd like to be able to find an out. The place I go to has life totals begin at 40 life instead of 30 for 1v1, so Dark Tutelage, Bob, and Sylvan Library would take less of a toll.
Blow up lands, hands, and creatures as you try to get commander damage through. Just hope that your opponent doesn't have a crucible of worlds and maze of ith out. That really hurts. Especially when your opponent also has a venser and acidic slime out. Yes, it has happened before. Try to keep a hand that either has a turn 1 skullbriar followed by /some/ disruption, a hand that has loads of disruption, a hand that locks your opponent down, or a hand that is incredibly fast (ever seen turn 2 skullbriar, turn 3 unspeakable symbol?). If you don't like your hand, don't be afraid to mull all of it just to get something explosive, but be careful about deciding whether or not you should do that.
