Doesn't look bad. I remember mill decks being really easy to beat because they had so little defense. Not the case here. I would recommend replacing Dream Twist with Mind Sculpt. It costs less overall and ends up milling more cards. Also, you should replace Cancel and Dispel with better counter spells. Dissipate, Mana Leak, Negate, and Essence Scatter would be some good choices. Some other cards you may want to consider are Jace's Phantasm, Traumatize, Archive Trap, and Jace, Memory Adept (if you can afford it).

Waste of space in my opinion. You will probably have the color you need anyway, and if you don't, Maze's End can get it.

It won't be too difficult to change. I like it like this for now, but once Standard rotates, Wasteland Viper could be replace Ambush Viper, Arrest instead of Oblivion Ring (if it isn't reprinted), Cancel or something instead of Dissipate, and I guess Way of the Thief instead of Artful Dodge.

I don't think adding them would help much, but it's not a bad idea.

Thanks for the advice. O Ring is a great card that I forgot about. But are you sure Spectral Flight is a good idea? It only gives flying, while Tricks of the Trade makes it unblockable. And since most of the things that I would enchant with it are coming out around turns 3 and 4, it seems like it would fit the curve better.

I also have 12 creatures that are not unblockable to enchant Tricks of the Trade onto. It's particularly effective with Primal Huntbeast, since it has hexproof. Thragtusk is expensive; notice that this is a budget deck. And even if money wasn't an issue, Thragtusk costs one more mana, doesn't have hexproof, and this deck was not designed to take advantage of its abilities. I wouldn't replace Huntbeast with Thrag if I could. What's wrong with 24 lands? It's about right for the curve. And again, notice that this is a budget deck. The gates may be near strictly worse than the shocklands and taplands, but they're not that bad.

I tried that, but none of the ERB effects I found were significant. Attended knight only gets you a few 1/1 soldiers, and I don't think that's going to do it. Another idea I had was Seller of Songbirds, which I think would be slightly better, but still isn't very likely to win.

Why didn't I think of that? I was looking for a decent 1-drop.

No, this was just an idea I had. I am considering buying it though. It's looking pretty powerful.

I'm rebuilding this deck in a magic the gathering multiplayer online game. I'll post here how well it does.

Thanks. Simic Fluxmage has nothing to do with Master of the Pearl Trident's ability though.

This deck is really expensive for what it does. Also, I don't think it has enough life gain. If you think you could add a little green to this deck, you could add cards like Heroes' Reunion and Centaur Healer, but that's up to you.

Serra Avatar would be a good idea. Another very important card you should put in is Rhox Faithmender. I'd run a playset of those. Finally, since the game will probably be prolonged by your life gain, you might as well throw in a bomb like Army of the Damned or Avacyn.

Banefire and Overgrown Battlement aren't Standard legal. Even if they were, it wouldn't matter that much; even if they did counter Devil's Play, I could flashback it. And even if they countered that too, I would probably have another in my hand.

I thought 22 lands was pretty low. Do you think it should be more like 18 or 20?

Sign in Blood is already there. Do you think I should add more drawing?

Also, what's the point of having cards that draw one card? If that card wasn't there, you would have the card you would have drawn in its place.

Get rid of Fencing Ace, Angel's Mercy, and Fall of the Gavel. Since your focus isn't to win with Azor's Elocutor's, get rid of that too. Try to put put a good amount of the same cards in your deck. For example, you may want to put in 4 Lyev Skyknights instead of 2. Remove things that don't have much of a point and add more copies of cards you already have. And try to keep your deck at 60 cards.

There are better counter spells out there. You may want to replace Cancel with Dissipate (which costs the same but exiles the countered card). Negate, although costing 1 mana more, isn't nearly as limited as Dispel. Also, you may want to replace Dramatic Rescue with Unsummon. Although it doesn't gain you life (which isn't that important anyway), it only costs one mana. These cards can be used to return a detaining creature (such as Lyev Skyknight) to your hand and then cast it again to detain something. Or you could return a large threat to your opponent's hand.

Detention Sphere is a pretty neat card. There's a card similar to it called Oblivion Ring that you should probably add to this deck too. Other cards I would recommend adding are Azorius Arrester (a useful 2-drop), Faith's Shield (to protect anything from removal, and maybe to make a creature unblockable), and more things to make Soulsworn Spirit more powerful, such as Butcher's Cleaver or Spectral Flight.
