YO! Erebos's Intervention? Hushbringer for sideboard? 3 copies of Fabled Passage may be?

The deck is well rounded, but too many 2 ofs making it a bit less solid/stabil/predictable on the draw. I understand the 2 Cavalier of Night and the 1 Dawn sortment, cuz there aren't enough enchants for 2 Dawn there.

I'd take out Mortify, put in 1 more Rider, 1 more Oblivion Ring and 1 more Seraph. I also wouldn't play Cavalier of Night, but rather 2 Dawn. That still gives us 1 empty slot. I'd run like 2 Erebos's Intervention mainboard, so perhaps cut 1 Cling.

As for the sideboard, in my experience in today's stndard, even control decks' most hateful threats are creatures, so I wouldn't run Duress.sometimes you just draw it late-game and it burns up your possibibities. 1 more Intervention, 1 more Legion's End and 1 moreDevout Decree rather. I'd also wouldn't run Spyglass since Theros came out. Removal would just do you better. Silence is also weak, cuz instant speed allowes control players to cast a spell their turn and cast 1 on yours, or perhaps activate a Castle ability. I'd take out those 4 for 1 ElspethCD, 1 Kunoros, 1 more Kaya's Wrath and 1 more Gideon.

GL!

Aye, it can be good as a sideboard... ...I've been using 1-2 copies in a couple of my decks as sideboards & they were useful, so I might try... ...Swan Song is way better in Modern though...

Winds of Qual is a better fog spell than Heart... ...Aetherspouts is not always so good, only against aggro & only 1 or 2 times a match...

Swan Song is no good in Standard... ...it would be if it could counter creatures instead of instant & sorcery...

Automaton & Chief I'm not sure of in the sideboard... ...I donno' about the rest, but I think you'll need more Master of Etherium...

Experiment One is no longer Standard either, cuz Ravnica rotated out... ...I'd say Bloodsoaked Champion &/or Hooded Hydra... ...if you look up the decks I've sent br4, you'll find possibilities :)

Thanks!

I use Bitter Revelations, cuz it assists Delve(3 cards in the grave) & Empty the Pits is a great finisher now... ...I don't wanna' mess up the grave with any more Delve-cards for Pits, that's why I don't play Cut... ...sure, I'll check you out....... ;)

Very well balanced! I like your style...

I'd only change a couple of things... ...1st of all, I'd replace that Banishing Light in the sideboard with an extra Utter End... ...2nd of all, you gonna' need 1 more land that could produce white mana... ...I'd use 4 Mystic & 3 Caryatid for the speed of the deck(turn 1-Mystic, turn 2-Courser)... ...I'd take out both Suspension Field from the sideboard & replace them with a 4th Thoughtseize & an extra Hero's Downfall.......

Here are my Abzan decks(if you have the time to take a look & give your thoughts):

K then... ...at first, it's better to have Thoughtseize in the main deck & not Dispise & Duress... ...there'll be many times you can't get what you want with those or nothing at all, especially if you draw them in the late-game... ...1-2 Dispise & 3 Duress is what I suggest for the sideboard & 4 Thoughtseize for the main.......

You could also use a couple Path to Exile in the main deck if you have 'em... ...may be Hero's Downfall... ...I won't be running mana dorks in the sideboard, nor the Bond-Kin & I'd use the Rhino mainboard... ...a couple Abrupt Decay for either main or sideboard would also be nice.......

hmm... ...that's not what I'd call trashing... ...it's not my problem either... ...me consistently commenting on your deck means I'm trying to help... ...what's in it for me to keep typing on it??

Anyway, I got it be4 my 1st comment that you only play casually, I just don't find it fun to have a nearly Standard deck instead of either a Standard one or one that's far from being Standard legal... ...if you want to make a non-standard deck, you should use a larger veriaty of cards, but I guess most of your cards are from Khans... ...if I were you, I'd really make it Standard & participate in FNM at your local store... ...believe me, it's worth a try.......

It's not negative criticism if I tell you that you'd be better off making it Standard, than Modern, whether you play only casually or elsehow... ...if you change your mind & decide to participate sometime, just give me a link somewhere & I'll help... ...either Standard or Modern(these are the formats I usually play).......

I just don't find it reasonable that if you have the cards to make it standard, why don't do it?..

In Modern format, most of these cards are not worth playing... ...you'd be more succesful in Standard with this type of deck & would have no success at all in Modern... ...there are too many powerful & hardly beatable decks in Modern, that's why.......

That's why I have 1 extra Hostilities & 3 Anger of the Gods in the sideboard + 1 Magma Spray... ...Magma Jet is also pretty good against aggro... ...aggro deck just can't bounce back after 2 wipes, many times not even after 1... ...the issue is rather fast ramp decks & resellient midrange, but I have plenty of medicine for that as well.......

Thanks for your heads up though! It has truth in it... ...against top class aggro decks, I usually go down to around 7-8 life, but then my walkers sprout on the board after a wipe perhaps & when that happens, I've already won... ...even resellient aggro with card draw having a hard time after I sideboard, but even be4 that, I usually have the upper hand... ...only Golgari aggro is a hard matchup, but I can manage....... :)

It's still great for Empty the Pits... ...& with the card draw I have here, it's likely that if my creatures die, I'll get others out & so I build my Devotion back up... ...Nykthos is relavent & I don't need that many black source anyway that I'd have any reason to use swamps instead.......

...but Bitter Revelation reaches deeper & if I fill my graveyard, it assists Delve... ...also, it's a good strategy to put Bloodsoaked Champion into my graveyard, cuz that way I got 3 cards instead of 2 with Revelations, if not 4...

Outlast is not a good strategy, mate... ...it's slow & when the board gets wiped out or most of your creatures removed by other means, you'll be at a great disadventage...

Thanks for your effort! :)

Expensive or not, Brimaz is a must in a deck like this... ...it's one thing that I don't even know how many copies I have of him(never brought a single one, only opened & traded)...

...now that we've after rotation, if you run an aggro deck that has no draw effects & control elements in it, then in a competative enviroment, you will lose... ...I use Thoughtseize to get rid of removal, potential blockers, mana dorks, wipes & such early... ...may be I should run only 3 in the main deck though.......

Considering the mana curve here, I put the Scrylands & Lifelands in here for that reason... ...I usually don't have a 2 drop, so a Scry instead is fair enough... ...but 8 lands that enter tapped might be too much... ...I need mana fixing though & I don't need deck thinning at 22 lands, aggro or not.......

You're right about Jeskai Student & Seeker... ...I'll change that... ...I can see why you don't like running more than 2 of legendary stuff & I used to be like that in the past, but it's realistic to have 3 & in some decks of certain cards, even 4... ...se that I have 4 Brimaz here which is also legendary... ...be4 rotation, Azorius & Esper decks ren 4 Architect of Thought & it was worth it... ...Sorin here is awesome, cuz he gives you extra damage & if you have to go on the defensive against midrange, your creatures will still have that +1/+0 - Lifelink at your opponent's turn... ...Athroes... ...well, may be I should run 2 Athreos in the main deck & 1 sideboard, but he's really important to get onto board often... ...along with the quick damage this deck may deal early, that 3 life/each creature is devastating to your opponent, so you'll probably get your dorks back... ...though the opponent won't pay for the Champ, cuz you can shortly cast it again anyway unless he gets exiled from your graveyard... ...back to Sorin, planeswalkers are getting easily removed these days, so it won't hurt to have extra... ...besides, Sorin is a type of walker like Architect of Thought was(you can quickly minus him twice, than cast the next one)... ...& it's also a powerful play when you get 2 flyers out, than giving them extra damage & Lifelink along with your other creatures.......

I'm not running sideboard cards for fun either... ...not yet sure about this one though, cuz I barely tested the deck, but I thought it out to an extent... ...the only thing that may not be understandable is that 1 copy of Ajani... ...well... ...besides it can make Sorin able to ultimate after 1 upkeep, Ajani's also a great card when you're up against control & you sideboard Elspeth along with him... ...if you draw him(& with Haruspax, you draw many cards when you oppose aggro), you can ultimate Elspeth faster & so you might be able to avoid another wipe be4 the finish... ...he gives counters to all of your creatures & that's not irrelavent either... ...when you're up against control, it's a whole different game with aggro & you need to be able to draw cards & it's ok to have a higher mana curve, cuz it's not a race when facing control, cuz if you rush, you just get your creatures wiped out & sit there with an empty hand & no offense left... ...you have to play a bit slowly... ...be4 rotation, if I played Mono Blue or Mono Red, I always cast my Frostborn Weird on turn 2 & forced the opponent to use up his/her spot removal be4 the wipe by just attacking & pumping him... ...that way I could preserve more threats for mid/late game & had my opponent run out of resources early on.......

I played Azorius Control & Gruul Devotion most of the time be4 rotation, so lifegain wasn't much of a threat to me... ...aggro decks are what I play the least, though I build them, I rarely use them at tournaments...

Now, I'm gonna' use this deck probably, but my Abzan Planeswalkers deck is also a potential tournament deck... ...guess I'm gonna' run more tests... :)

It's even better now, than it was pre-rotation... ...& if you remember, the last pro-tour winner ran 3 in the sideboards & he actually won the final match with Fleece-Ram & Archangel of Thune... ...it was great then & it's even better now :)

Duress is not standard legal...

The deck seems quite mandatory, but I guess it's because of your card capacity... ...I have a couple of suggestions anyway... ...run Despise only in the sideboard(2-3 copies) & get your hands on some Thoughtseize... ...for your 4 drops in this deck, I'd drop all of them... ...try to get some Siege Rhino instead, it's pretty good for both offense & defense... ...if you play Abzan & you want the deck to be competative, you definiately have to get some Planeswalkers(Elspeth, Sorin, Garruk & such).......

I have 2 Abzan decks right now & 1 of them is midrange-token based, so I guess it'd help to take a look at it... ...I showing you both anyway... :)

Sorry if my critique "sounds" a bit harsh, but I can't help my cocky attitude... ;)
