If I were to do a self mill, I would likely start it from scratch, but that is, indeed, an excellent option.

It is, and I feel very lucky to have gotten it. He knew that my favorite animal is the fox, so I figure that is why he gave me this one, but either way I feel lucky and grateful.

We tend to lean mostly towards multiplayer, but we do have one on one duels on occasion. This deck does, indeed, fair better in those such duels, but it can hold its own quite well in multiplayer too. Thank you for the compliments.

I sadly don't possess any, and I've found that they are insurmountably difficult to find.

Not so sure about Yavimaya Hollow, but Volrath's Stronghold sounds like an excellent idea.

Well, then we should resign to agree to disagree.

I might be able to work that in, it's a good idea and may come in useful.

There is actually a very specific reason I run those two swords in particular. The greatest annoyance I've faced with this deck is when people exile the Child to avoid the risk of 'detonating' it. The most prolific colour that exiles is White. After white, the two most troublesome colours for me have been red and black. So, with my sword selection, I have two sources of white protection, and one of each for red and black. In addition, Light and Shadow grants me recursion, which is always a boon for this deck.

As it so happens I cannot take credit for it. I found it from a comment made about Child of Alara on its page on The Gatherer. I thought it was such a funny, yet somewhat truthful, description of what it must be like to deal with such a dangerously volatile general in EDH.

The thing to take into consideration is that these decks are never purchased all at once. Those foils were acquired over a long time. I also believe SWN added a number of cards (lands specifically) from his own collection that added to that deck's price considerably. SWN has been doing this since he was four, so he's understandably amassed a tremendous stockpile.

I was. It was incredibly generous of him, but he expressed that he would rather his friends have his decks than sell them and have them be 'destroyed'. I suppose I can understand. Just because someone decides to take a leave from magic does not mean they no longer have a love for the decks they've created.

I should really post up that 8.5 Tails list...

That is precisely what makes Maralen so enjoyable in my opinion. Sure, she can grab you a quick infinite combo, and I'd be a fool not to run one or two just incase, but it is the other combos that you can grab that are so marvelous and genuinely /fun/ to use.

I've been told many a time that I look like a taller, slimmer Ewen McGregor…Who I sound like I haven't the slightest idea.

The added mana it provides lets me play more/bigger spells earlier on, which helps keep me ahead of my opponent. It's also quite the boon with Mirari.

Cloister comes in useful mostly in its capacity to protect you from discard during others' turns. Since the vast majority of discard effects are at sorcery speed, this is a huge boon. My Maralen deck features a healthy dose of discard for much the same reason it has protection from discard - With a general that lets players find whatever they wish, forcing them to no longer have those things is powerful.

I almost put BSZ in mine, and I may still in the future. Even with the battle cruiser magic that can occur in EDH, it is a powerful form of board control, and can even be your only means of tackling certain creatures (Darksteel Colossus comes to mind). Killing wave is remarkable in pressure EDH decks. When life becomes a valuable resource, making your opponent(s) pay life to keep creatures is diabolical. Besides, its artwork is a sort of beautiful majestic macabre.

I must say that Scroll Rack does indeed sound wonderful, and in conjunction with the at times superfluous card advantage granted by Necropotence, could come in quite useful.
