On the contrary, I completely agree with everything you said. I'm actually surprised it did so well against just one opponent. I only play multiplayer (3-5 player free for all or the occaisional two-headed giant) and this deck is specifically designed for that. I added Sanguine Bond because in my past experience, a few decks will have some way to slow or stop me from attacking. This way I can deal direct damage without anyone being able to answer. Recross Paths is one of those go-to cards. So many uses in a deck like this. The main reason I like it with Reach of Branches is because after I have stalled the game and my army is built up, I usually start top-decking useless cards (copies of Bosk Banneret, for example). With Reach, I have a 2/5 treefolk to play every time I play a land. Do you have any ideas on trimming this down? I use to have Harbinger in here but had to remove it because there were so many other badass trees.

Thank you sir. Let me know how that testing works out, if you don't mind. I'm thinking about working Sanguine Bond in somehow...
Rebuild is here: http://mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=34273
How about some of those 28 lands?
I would say some actual creatures just in case they leave an opening. Palace Guard, Wall of Glare and the like come to mind. As for playing Dragon Apeasement, Academy Rector and Lost Auramancers would do nicely. They'd also help tutor and solve your chump blocker problem.

So I've noticed that you are quite the expert at making exasperating decks. +1
Dude, I want to +1 all of your decks simply because of the titles...
I did away with my first deck looong long ago when I realized that all of my friends had the same deck and they weren;t going to trade me any good cards for them. I consider this one to be my first real deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=27489
There are a lot of ways to win a game of Magic besides simply dealing damage (but not with white...). You could gain a lot of life to protect yourself while you attack, you could gain life and utilize cards that make you win if you have a certain amount of life, you could get big flying creatures that are hard to block, or you could build a massive army of smaller creatures. Find a few cards with similar abilities, then find a few cards that play off of those abilities. If you want, I have almost 200 decks that you could browse through to see if you find a strategy you like.
It all depends on what you want to do with it and how you want to win.
Oops... I took out Sapling of Colfenor when I meant to take out Black Poplar Shaman.
Agreed. I didn't even realize I still had him in there...
No problem. This deck is eerily similar to my first deck. Rampant Growth, Regeneration, Spined Wurm, Craw Wurm, Enormous Baloth, and Grizzly Bears were all in mine.
Add Elvish Piper and you have a deck.
I was in your shoes about 7 years ago... All I can tell you is to read as many cards as you can. Look at every deck you can. Find a play style that works for you and imitate it. As for deck building, a good place to start with a deck is 20 lands, 20 creatures, and 20 other cards (instants, sorceries, artifacts, or enchantments). From there, you can see how the deck plays and make adjustments accordingly. Always be sure to include as many copies of a card as possble to make your deck more likely to give you the cards you need. 4 copies for cards you need every game, 3 copies for cards that you'd like to get out (secondary combos and such), and 2 copies for cards that aren't essential to make the deck run. 1 copy is basically a waste of space.
Agreed, but where's the fun in that?? "Dudes, I have a 50/50... But don' worry, I won't attack. Kevin? Please take the top 50 cards of your library and place them DIRECTLY into your graveyard. Thanks for playing..." A lot of the deck I build I only use once or twice simply because my friends catch on to what I'm doing and start shutting me down. I'll toy around with a more competitive version simply because I love Altar.
Just for me?! I'll check 'em out.
Probably. I'll test it out next game night. I just didn't want to have to RELY on Squandered Resources that much, ya know?
Thanks for the comments guys. i'll respond to you in order: Thanks Aethercraft. Very few players in my circle understand that you can sacrifice your huge monsters and still pull off a win. Plus, how many people run mill decks without blue? This deck still has plenty of brute force, Chiligyro. I play casual 3-5 player free for all (so Fastbond isn't an issue, and I really only use it when I absolutely need mana NOW), so there are a LOT of cards in the grave by 4th turn. Chilly, I don't need to test this deck. I own it, and it works just fine. I don;t need abilities to put creatures into the graveyard. It happens on its own. Mortivore is not the basis of the deck; Lord of Extinction is. When Squandered Resources is on the table (which happens nearly every game), the lands that go to the graveyard is what pumps up Lord of Extinction (who is a turn 3 drop with Squandered) to sacrifice to the Altar. As does Nantuko Mentor. Like I told Chiligyro, this is not a 1v1 deck. The game dynamics are different when you have 3 people to kill instead of 1. As for lands and creatures each being a third of my deck: I learned that that's how solid decks are built. That philosophy hasn't failed me yet... I really just posted this deck to see if anyone had any bright ideas on how to improve it. I replaced 4 Dark Rituals with 4 Phyrexian Reclamations and owned the world.
