Deck Description

Disclaimer: This is not a deck. This is a compilation of some of the new combos I've foudn thanks to the new Counterpunch Commander deck. Also it's kind of a rant/review as well.

First though, I will describe some of my favorite new cards that help these combos play out so well.

***********************
Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter - 4WBB
Legendary Creature - Vampire
Flying, Lifelink
Sacrifice a Creature: Put X +1/+1 counters on Vish Kal, where X is the sacrificed creature's power.
Remove all +1/+1 counters from Vish Kal: Target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn for each +1/+1 counter removed this way.
5/5
************************
Ghave, Guru of Spores - 2GBW
Legendary Creature - Fungus Shaman
Comes into play with 5 +1/+1 counters on it.
1, Remove a +1/+1 counter from a creature you control, put a 1/1 Green saproling token into play.
1, Sacrifice a creature: put a +1/+1 counter on target creature
0/0
***************************
Alliance of Arms - W
Sorcery
Starting with you, each player may pay any amount of mana. Each player then puts X 1/1 white soldier tokens onto the battefield where X is the total amount of mana payed this way.
***************************

Now why are these cards so cool? Lets start with Alliance of Arms. While at first this card seems like it may create an even playing field, Sigil Captain makes each one of these 1/1 soldiers automatically into 3/3's, meaning you already have a huge upperhand. Plus with Grave Pact, sacrificing these soldiers to your other cards means you can weed out all those pesky 1/1's you gave to your opponents too.

Now onto Ghave, Guru of Spores. As a potential Commander, this guy is the definition of versatile. Being a 5/5 for 5 mana isn't that bad to do some serious commander damage, but this guys specialty isnt really in doing that. You want to swarm your opponent? Then turn your +1/+1 counters from anywhere into 1/1's or even 3/3's with Sigil captain. the best aprt about those 3/3's? Since they have 2 +1/+1 counters on them, each counter you take off of Ghave can make a total of 3 creatures, or be used to pump even more creatures with +1/+1 counters.

Finally onto my favorite: Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter. First of all, a big meaty flyer with lifelink can always be fun on their own, but his second ability is what really defines him. Let's say you have him and a symbiotic wurm on the field. For no mana, you can put a grand total of 14 +1/+1 counters on him just for that one creature. OR if you have Sigil Captain, you can pump for a total of 28! Now imagine Doubling Season on top of that! The Symbiotic alone would give him 14. Then you'd have 14 5/5's which all give 10 more counters. You're looking at a total of 154 +1/+1 counters in a single turn! And what if you have Rhys the Redeemed and you turn those 14 5/5s into 42 5/5's?! That would give him 434 +1/+1 counters due to just 1 card! And don't forget that as all this is happening, Grave Pact is clearing your opponents' boards and leaving them wide open to a huge swing by Vish Kal. And if you have more mana to spare, you can even turn some of those +1/+1 counters into 2 5/5's using Ghave. And guess what gets even better? Vish Kal is a Vampire. Yup thats right. Blade of the Bloodchief has found its permanent home. Going from the previos scenario, if Vish Kal has Blade of the Blood Chief on when this happens, he will end up with a grand total of 606 +1/+1 counters. And do I hear a Fate Transfer plus Unnatural predation onto the commander? Oh yes. This guy means business.

I can't even explain all the combos out there, but the list below are some of the most influential cards I think to interact with this deck. Take a look and see if you can find evn more crazy combos. They're out there.

I guess this "deck" turned more into a rant/review than I really intended it to, but honestly, this Commander deck has sparked my deck-building creativity in more ways than I can even comprehend. MTGVault staff, you guys would be my absolute heroes if you throw in the new commander cards into your card collection.

Happy deck-duilding guys. I hope you love the new commander series as much as I do :)
