Deck Description

I really like the investigation mechanic and I've tried a few things to try and make it work, this is my latest brew with heavy inspiration from the wide web.

The deck is about generating a lot of clue tokens and use them in different ways to achieve different goals (win conditions or just to draw cards).

This is a 75% EDH deck ;)

How to Play

The deck is not really dependent on Riku and you should be able to win without ever playing him. He is a good 'achieve goals faster' dude in this deck.

The deck is logically about controlling your board and making sure your stuff stays defended. You can achieve this rather easily when you get a clue token generating machine up and running.
I wouldn't have too many clue token generators on the board at one time, simply for the reason that if your board gets wiped, you will have an easier time building back up if you keep some of them in your hand.

This deck is pretty straight forward in all other regards; slowly set up your win conditions, protect your stuff, draw cards, ramp, if the board state allows for it then play Riku (you're in no rush to get him out).

Win conditions are;
- Cloning/Copying your opponents massive creatures (or your own clue token generators to amplify your draw engine).
- Hellkite Tyrant with tonnes of clue tokens
- Turning all your clue tokens into 5/5 creatures (with Tezzeret the Seeker) and swing for the win

So the clue tokens have several uses in this deck;
- Draw engine (obviously ;) )
- Creature creation (Ulvenwald Mysteries)
- Tutor (Tamiyo's Journal)
- Mana engine (Krark-Clan Ironworks)
- Untap artifact (Clock of Omens, works really nice with Tamiyo's journal)
- Removal (Ghirapur Æther Grid)
- Unblock buffing (Whirler Rogue)
- Win condition (Hellkite Tyrant)
- Creatures (Tezzeret the Seeker)
- Artifact recursion (Goblin Welder)
- +1/+1 buff for Bloodbriar and Tireless Tracker

(I didn't add it as I find it disgustingly good, but Deadeye Navigator will turn this deck nasty with the many ETB creatures.)

Deck discussion for Investigating Riku

I've played it for a few games and it is an absolute blast to play! I've yet to decide if I want to swap cards out. I've only had Riku out for ½ of the games and still able to be a threat and have a good time.

The most easy and stable win condition seems to be Hellkite Tyrant.
