Mercy Killing becomes twice as good when you run Taunting Elf + Wirewood Pride/Timberwatch Elf and other cards that combo off of "each elf in play," eg Wellwisher, Priest of Titania, etc.. Example: Mercy Killing opponent's Blightsteel. They get 11 elves. You tap Wellwisher for life or Priest for mana, then drop pride/tap timberwatch on your taunting elf, and all of their elves have to block him, and they die. Bingo.

Incidentally I actually do have wirewood pride in my physical library, but besides that, thanks for the heads up.
