Deck Description

So this is my first attempt at a UG tempo control. i know it needs some serious help, but i want to build it into modern. any ideas welcome, and if i have a bad card, let me know, im open to any critique.

How to Play

so its tempo/control. get some threats out, then hammer away while protecting them with counterspells and removal

Abrupt decay over 3 dismembers?
move two to the sideboard.
Spouts isn't good enough to make it into modern.
You also want about 20 or so instants/sorcerys if youre playing delver.
Kiora would probably be better in modern than nissa or tamiyo.
Just some ideas.

The other obvious things are:
Snapcaster
Goyf
remand
Cryptic command
ETC.
But not everyone is into throwing that kind of money around:P

So i do have 4 snaps, 2 cryptics, and 2 remands..... i can get 2 more remands easy, ill have to check what cryptics are at nowadays, i dont think they are $70 anymore. thanks for the advice im going to work on it, the goyfs are a no at the moment, although scavenging ooze isnt horrible. what else would i splash black for?
and what do you think of mystic snake?
thanks!

It's basically if you want to go red or black
Red:
Bolt
Electrolyze
Young Pyromancer

Black:
Abrupt decay
Thoughtseize
IoK

random sideboard cards from both.
I like mystic snake, I just don't know about how it pans out in modern...
I feel in a delver deck its almost just better to run a real counter spell as a better chance to flip delver.

Some slaughter pact with black too? i have almost everything to splash black, might have to work on the mana base though, i have the watery graves and a couple verdant catacombs but itll be work in progress. thanks again

Well if you do go 3 colours you will have the Khans fetches in just under 2 weeks.
I like slaughter pact, just normally only as a 1-of, the pure blow out potential is unreal when facing decks like twin or infect.

Seems really good, I wish they could just reprint goyf at common so we can all have play sets lol.
I mean I don't have any so I feel your pain.
It will have a good game vs tempo/combo.
aggro decks may be a bit harder than if you were red but you really have to choose between the two and thats what the sideboard is for anyway:P
Thumbs up.

its one of those weird "timespiraled cards" that never got a new card frame, although it is modern legal. i have a playset and i really like them, so i wanted to use them in a deck, and BUG it is!

So this sideboard is a bit metagame reflective.. we have boggles, burn, twin, affinity (like 4 of') and some random bloodghast/vengvine decks. ive seen some other random things like storm, ad naseum, mono green aggro

Type your deck name...Main board llok good? mana base? sideboard i guess ill figure out as i playtest, unless im really off on something... thanks for any help!

It looks fine to me, play test it come back with results and we can see what changes(if any) should be made.
Its really hard to say when a deck is compiled of good cards:P

I think that bloodghast vengevine deck is a type of dredge that is still in modern after the major dredge cards became banned.

It's called "Dredgevine"
it uses cards like:
Fauna shaman
grisly salvage
hendron crab
etc to pump creatures into their GY, then they recur bloodghast/vengevine

Right, I'm just saying that's what dredge in modern became after the best dredge cards were banned.

Not really, the closest thing to a true dredge deck is bubblehulk(as compared to how the old dredge decks worked in terms of winning the game).
Dredgevine is just a creature based GY deck that happens to self mill.

of all the odd things banned its dredge... but a turn 2 5/6 goyf really, really sucks

0

banning dredge makes perfect sense lol, they want modern to be a turn 4 format.
Dredge is a very oppressive archtype that demands hate(and lots of it)
even if it didn't show often it would warp what you can play in the format as you either had to play a deck thats good against it or a deck thats good against most of the field and has sideboard spots open for hate.

0

no, you are right. it was to heavily played. after banning there is alot more variety

0

In other words its a meta assassin, but its a ton strong that affinity which is why affinity isn't banned out.
Just think if affinity and dredge were in the same format, you would basically only have 6-7 sideboard slots free:P
